Frances Ellen “Fran” Cox

Cox, Frances Ellen “Fran” – 1913-2016. The passing of Frances Ellen “Fran” Cox occurred on November 20, 2016 in The Mira, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Robinson and Adeline (Faulkner) Cox.

A lifelong resident of Bible Hill, Fran’s working career spanned 70 years. She was employed most of those years in her family business, having worked with her father and later with her brother, Lou, in her parents’ Ryland Avenue store in Bible Hill. The business was later leased out but Fran continued to work for the lessee until the business was taken over by her daughter, Sheila and husband, Bruce, and two grandchildren, Kevin and Brian. Fran was a staple in the business operated by four generations of the Cox family.

Fran was an honest friend to everyone she ever met and was a favourite with customers. She was committed to serving her community and never ever complained. She always looked to help someone every day. She was truly a neighbourhood friend. Fran was a conversationalist in the truest sense of the word. She leaves us rich in memories.

Fran was predeceased by brothers, Lou (Carrie) and Fred (Martha) Cox. She is survived by daughter, Sheila (Bruce) Kennedy; grandchildren, Kevin (Connie), Brian (Patti); great-grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Patrick, Regan; great great-grandchild, Chloe; nieces, Nancy Lou (Keith) Austin, Sharon (Bob) McWilliam.

Special thanks to all who helped make Fran’s life comfortable in her failing years. Over 100 years of Fran’s life has left us with memories to last forever. Her greatest attribute was her ability to make friends. She will be truly missed by her family.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Valley Crossroad Cemetery, Valley, followed by a celebration of her life from 1:30-3 p.m. in the Bible Hill Fire Hall. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
