Archibald, Leander “Smith”

Archibald, Leander “Smith” – Age 85, Middle Musquodoboit, passed away March 19, 2015 in Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, he was a son of the late Leander Lindsay and Nellie Leeida (Urquhart) Archibald. Smith was a past president of Halifax County Federation of Agriculture and the United Milk and Cream Producers Association. He also held positions on the executive of the local Artificial Breeders Association, the Musquodoboit Valley Cooperative, and was a founding member of Twin Cities Dairy Ltd. where he later held a term as vice-president. His life was spent as a dedicated dairy farmer in Middle Musquodoboit.

Surviving are children, Barry (Joan), Sheila (Roland), June, Judy (Stephen), Tanya (Winston); grandchildren, Greg, Jeanette, Adam, Michael, Alex, Tracey, Jeffrey, Amy; great-granddaughter, Olivia. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Eleanor Bowser; sisters, Christina, Jean, Freda; brother, Matthew.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to Musquodoboit Valley Health Foundation – Hospital, or Nova Scotia Lung Association.
