Stanley, Lee

Stanley, Lee – Age 66, of Halifax. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, husband, and best friend. Lee was born August 2, 1948, in High Point, North Carolina, to the late Elijah and Ola Mae Stanley. Work in the music industry brought Lee to Nova Scotia where he met his wife of 32 years, Peggy Milsom, at the Misty Moon bar, exclaiming to a friend, “I am going to marry that girl” the moment he laid eyes on her, and so it was. He was a wonderful father to his two children; they were his pride and joy. After a long career in both music and film, Lee thoroughly enjoyed the last 9 years of his career driving for Halifax Transit. Lee had a passion for gardening and travelling, and most of all loved spending time with his family and friends.

Lee is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Lillian; son, Nikolas; sister, Brenda Hart, High Point, NC; stepmother, Pauline “Polly” Stanley (Stevens, PA); sister-in-law, Sally Langille; brothers-in-law, Rob Langille, Douglas Milsom; and many much-loved nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Danny; brothers-in-law, Bruce and Scott Milsom; mother-in-law, Katherine Archibald.

Lee’s kind, compassionate spirit will be missed by so many people whose lives he touched.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, Halifax. Memorial donations may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or ATU Local 508 Benevolent Fund, 30 Rosedale Dr., Dartmouth N.S. B3A 1L8.
