David Samuel Collier

Collier, David Samuel – November 19, 1934 – May 22, 2017. We, the family of our deeply loved one, wish to announce his long-desired passing from his earthly journey back home to God, and prayerfully ask all who can, to join with us at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on Saturday, May 27, at 10 a.m., in St. Joseph’s Church, 3709 Prospect Rd., Shad Bay, to celebrate the life they shared with him throughout the years. A reception will follow the interment in the parish hall, Shad Bay.

David was one of the first altar servers of St. Joseph’s Parish and served with many of its pastors from Father John Lanighan onward and continued to give his all to many of the parish’s endeavors throughout the years, always feeling blessed to be able to share everything God gave him with all those who he was privileged to meet.

Left to remember him always are his wife and friend of 62 years, Ann (Donnelly); sons, Darrell (Susan), Derek (Cheryl); daughters, Vicki Tattrie and Kelly Backman (Tim); grandsons, Jason (Kim) and David; granddaughters, Emma, Valentina, Caitlyn, Atanda; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Claire; brothers, James (Theresa, deceased), Paul (Judy); sister-in-law, Patricia Weeden and many much-loved nephews and nieces; special friends, Michael, Mark and Trevor; and very good friends, Jack Swan and Margaret Dunbar. He was predeceased by his father, William; mother, Marjorie (Spares); sisters-in-law, Theresa Holland, Theresa Carlton, Joan Oxner; and infant granddaughter, Julie Ann Backman. Spring flowers welcome.
