Vernon Harold Boutilier

Boutilier, Vernon Harold – Age 90 of Stewiacke. We regret to announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Vernon Harold Boutilier on January 4, 2019, of natural causes. Born in Halifax, he was the eldest of seven children.

In his time, Vernon worked with Maritime Furriers, on the Halifax waterfront as a stevedore, as a milkman, and with NSLC from where he retired.

Vernon enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, hockey, darts, playing guitar (especially Bluegrass) and camping. He was a member of a Bluegrass band “The Renegades” who played locally for many years. Numerous summers were spent with his wife Geraldine, camping at the Bluegrass Festivals and at Lake Ainslie in Cape Breton, where he often gave other campers the gift of his music around their campfires.

Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine; sons, Larry (Marilyn) and Alan (Debbie); brothers, Wayne (Gail), Kenny (Judy), Arnold; grandchildren, Lisa, Zoe (Seth Radunsky), Sarah, Shawn (Donna) and Nick (Stephanie); eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Hubert and Jenny; son, Bruce; sisters, Joan Little, Betty; brother, Donnie.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A graveside service will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
