Sutton, John D. – It is with great sorrow that the immediate family of the late John D. Sutton announce his recent passing in Dartmouth General Hospital on July 9, 2021 at age 76. John was born in Toronto, Ontario and was the only child of the late Audrey E. (Dollery) and Jack Sutton. John spent most of his life living in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Many remember him from his time working at Dalhousie University in Halifax at the Chemistry Department.
His favorite hobby was working with antique Cadillac automobiles. He appreciated the car itself and not its monetary value. He shared this passion and knowledge of antique automobiles with many other enthusiasts throughout Canada and the United States. John spent many years as member and president of the Halifax Antique Auto Club.
John enjoyed singing in the Church choir and other social events. He was also a loving, responsible husband and father with great integrity. John will be remembered by his loving wife of 48 years, Mireille (Rioux) Sutton; his two children, Marc and Tiphanie (Randy); and cherished grandson, Logan Rix (11). John had several other relatives living in Ontario and Quebec.
Heartfelt thanks go out to the special people who assisted us during this trying time. His service will be at Grace Baptist Church in Dartmouth at a later date.
