Louise Jean Dickeson

Dickeson, Louise Jean – Age 83 of Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022, at Gables Lodge, Amherst.

Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Lois (Wilson) Newey.

She will be always missed by her husband and true love of 57 years, William “Bill”; children, Patti, Will (Jolee) and Greg; grandchildren, Lev, Simone, Mila, Julie, Asha and Barry; brother, Allison (Joyce Leadbetter) Newey; sister-in-law, Marjorie Landry; several nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Louise was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Newey.

Louise graduated with Honours from St. Charles Commercial School, Amherst, as a Stenographer and was employed in offices located in Halifax and Truro. After starting a family with Bill, she was a devoted mother and homemaker, taking care of her family with the greatest love and pride. She filled her home with beautiful plants, delicious aromas from the kitchen, and positive energy. Louise’s sense of fun took her on countless adventures with Bill. Whether it was square dancing, driving across Canada, staying at Berwick Camp, or travelling to see their grandchildren, they went through this life hand in hand. Louise was also a long-time member of St. David’s United Church, a life member of St. David’s United Church Women (U.C.W.), and a member and former leader of Martha Unit.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4 in St. David’s United Church, 149 Pictou Rd., Bible Hill. A memorial service will also take place at St. David’s at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 5. Rev. April Hart officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Bible Hill Cemetery.

Memorial donations in Louise’s name may be made to St. David’s United Church Mission and Service Fund, Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephen Ellis for the many years of his care and compassion, as well as the staff at Gables Lodge.
