Nadeen "Penny" Caroline (Higgins) Comeau

Comeau, Nadeen “Penny” Caroline (Higgins) – Age 80, of Brookside, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025.  It is with heavy hearts we that the family of Penny Comeau announce her peaceful passing.

Born in 1945, Penny grew up in Bible Hill.  She was a daughter of the late Manson and Eileen Higgins. She had an older sister, Joan (Cameron), whom she loved dearly. Growing up she was involved with majorettes and various dance classes.

Penny graduated from high school in Onslow. During summers she waitressed at the Scotia Hotel, Truro. After she graduated, she worked at Scott Paper, Eastern Transport, Raco AMC Jeep and played a key role in the start up and success of Raco. One of her biggest accomplishments, and full-time job, was the management of Ray.

Penny met Ray when she was 15. They dated for years, and married at 21, on July 9th, 1966. They had two children and spent many years of their married life travelling and seeing the world. They spent their winters in Quail Springs campground in Uvalde, Texas.  Penny had her special group of “birthday girls” that she would share special celebrations. She was a proud and loving wife, mother, nan and nana.  She enjoyed spending precious time with her grandchildren.

She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Raymond; son, Mike (Mary Lou); daughter, Mary Jane (Dave); grandchildren, Ciera Robinson (Brad), Victoria Comeau, Kamryn Matheson and Mackenzie Matheson; great grandchildren, John Robinson and Charlotte Robinson

We want to thank the staff of VON, and her amazing caregivers, Jane Peters and her staff.

At her request, cremation has taken place.  No service will be held.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
