Day, Maureen Edith – Sadly, the family announces the passing of Maureen Edith (Roberts) Day, age 86.
Left to grieve are her children, Daniel (Debbie) Day, Loretta (Randy Carter) Halleran, Allan Day; grandchildren, Sebastian (Tessa) Carter, Keegan (Kyra) Day, Kelsea (Ryan Shay) Day, Sara (Patrick Crowe) Carter; great-grandchildren, Max Craig, Piper Day, Victor and Stetson Carter-Crowe, Maeve Shay; sister, Olga Schnare; best friend of 83 years, Mauritius Parker; and daughter by choice, Pamela Smith-Strong.
Maureen was a wonderful mother, beloved grandmother and loving great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all. Maureen was well known and well liked in her community. She volunteered and canvassed for Heart and Stroke Foundation and was also recognized for her years of service with the Cancer Society selling daffodils. Maureen was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed seeing birds at her window each morning. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Edith (Bonn) Roberts; husband of 52 years, Blair Henry Day; grandchild, Emily Halleran; sister, Mary Roberts; brother, Walter Roberts; niece, Christine Schnare; and daughter-in-law, Denise Day.
The family would like to also express gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Braeside Nursing Home. Donations in memory of Maureen can be made to the Nova Scotia Alzheimer Society, Braeside Nursing Home Recreation Department (Musquodoboit Valley Health Foundation), or a charity of your choice.
Graveside service will be held at a later date.
