Walker, Mary (Harding) – age 88 of Dartmouth, died peacefully on December 6, 2025 in The Admiral, Dartmouth.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Bridget (George) Harding; husband of 31 years, Vernon “Vic” Walker; and brother, Edward Harding.
She is survived by daughters, Victoria Myers (David), Cynthia Beaton (Paul); grandchildren, Laura Mason (Cory), Julie Beaton (John Nichols), Colleen Johnson (Matthew), Susan Beaton (Olivia King), Steven Beaton and Mark Myers; great-grandchildren, Grant, Bridget, Brenna, Erin and another due in April 2026; sisters, Joanne Ring, Dealy Dawe; and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland before Confederation. She and her husband and two young daughters moved to Nova Scotia in 1965. When she lived in Musquodoboit Harbour, she worked at Save Easy and Forest Hill Drug Mart in Jeddore. She was an active volunteer in her parish of St. Phillips and in The Birches. She moved to Dartmouth in 2003.
She was fiercely independent and private. She loved her family and especially enjoyed preparing holiday meals. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and started preparing in September, often putting up her highly decorated trees in October.
She loved a good laugh and when asked how she was doing, she would most often respond by saying, “the devil looks after his own.”
For the past two years, she made her home at The Admiral in Dartmouth. The staff treated her with kindness, respect and dignity.
Funeral mass and interment to be held privately.
