With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mom passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the age of 89, surrounded by her family. She was born in 1936 in Enfield to Forrest and Mary (Horne) Garden. Mom’s loving children are Vernon (Cathy), Barry (Holly), and Shelly. She was predeceased by her daughter, Darlene in 2008. Mom’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, Stephanie, Ashley, Tanya, Sean, Nicole, Scott, Nathan, and Kyle, along with her great-grandchildren, Alexis, Raena, Spencer, Elliot, Sam, Haylee, Sadie, Barry Jr., Elvie, Bentley, and Wrenley. Mom is survived by sisters, Kathleen “Kay”, and Marlene. She was predeceased by sisters, Audrey, Virginia, Ruth, Margaret, Regina, and in infancy, Alma, Florence, and Marlene; brothers, Elroy, Gerald, Jerome, Carl, Ray, and in infancy, Carl. Mom loved having family and friends around her. She was always up for babysitting any of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren, She loved listening to music, going to dances, and singing especially with her sisters at family gatherings, Mom was a lifetime member of the women’s auxiliary with Branch 133 Enfield Legion and a Catholic Women’s League (CWL) member, as well as a member of St. Bernard’s Parish in Enfield. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, at 2 p.m. in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Enfield, followed by a reception downstairs in the church. Memorial donations may be made to CWL Enfield, Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers of Eaglesnest Cottage in Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield for the love and care they provided especially over the past week. They were all so compassionate with Mom and to all of us during this difficult time.
