Brian Robert McCurdy

McCurdy, Brian Robert – age 75, of Middle Stewiacke. With very heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

Brian was born to William “Bill” and Hilda (Myers) McCurdy. He was raised in Middle

Musquodoboit along with his five siblings.

Brian attended vocational school in Truro where he took up auto mechanics. He worked at Briarwood Ford for almost fifteen years, until it closed. He then went on to work at Nova Enterprises as a heavy-duty mechanic for thirty years until his retirement in 2016. Brian was known as a very skilled mechanic, and he was always available to help his family, friends and neighbours.

Brian met Jeannie Rudolph in 1971 and they married in 1974. Together they built a life full of love for over 50 years. They made their home in Middle Stewiacke, and raised their three daughters.

Brian was always puttering around in the garage. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling with the Middle Stewiacke bowling league for many years. He loved reading, completing crosswords and other puzzles. Brian was actively involved with the Middle Stewiacke Rec Association and was on the Board of Stewards of the Middle Stewiacke United Church. Most importantly he was always there for his family, of whom he was so proud. Brian was a true family man, who loved big and was loved back just as much.

Brian is survived by the love of his life, Jeannie; his daughters, Paula Ellis (Randy), Janice, Julie (Brian Hill); grandchildren, Brett (Danielle), Colby (Maddie), Jessica (Connor), Brianna (Ryan), Jayden and Jasper; great-granddaughters, Jailynn and Skylar; siblings, Ervin (Darlene), Darrell (Krista), Valerie (Philip), Blaine (Debbie), Cheryl (John); in-laws, Kennie, Ronnie (Veronica), Molly (Gordon), Robert (Rhonda), Gordie, Henry (Katherine), and Doug; along with a large extended family.

Brian was predeceased by his parents, Bill (who passed just 12 days earlier) and Hilda; his stepmother, Muriel (Myers, Dickie); father and mother in-law, Stowell and Edith (Millar) Rudolph; brothers-in-law, Reg and Tom; and sisters in-law, Jean and Renee; and his grandson, Elliott Hill (8 weeks).

The family would like to thank, Dr. Wood and Donna at QEII, and the staff at CEHHC,

Wanda at Arimathea, and friends and neighbours for all their support.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 2 at 2 p.m. in Middle Stewiacke United Church, with Reverend Mike Henderson officiating. Following the funeral there will be a reception in Middle Stewiacke Rec Centre. All are welcome to attend.

No flowers by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middle Stewiacke Rec Association or Middle Stewiacke United Church, if so desired.
