Keizer, Derrick Howard – age 65, of Porter’s Lake passed away on March 25, 2026. He was a son of the late Angus and Joyce Keizer.
Derrick is survived by his son, Devin (Kacey); siblings, Larry (Laura), Dana Cameron (Trevor), Mark (Paula); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Derrick spent his working career as a skilled concrete finisher and drywaller who took great pride in his work and a job well done.
Growing up, Derrick could be found on Porter’s Lake trout fishing in the spring and snowmobiling in the winter. Derrick always played as hard as he worked. There was never a dull moment with most escapades ending in a story for the ages and a few grey hairs for Mom and Dad. In his later years, Derrick slowed down and lived a simple life. He enjoyed going for drives with Devin and reminiscing about family stories and the jobs he had done. Daily walks were part of his routine, if those shoes could talk, the stories they could tell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or pay it forward the next time you go through the drive-through at Tim’s in Porter’s Lake.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 4 in Porter’s Lake Community Centre from 2-4 p.m.
