Shawn Alexander Anthony Wilson

Wilson, Shawn Alexander Anthony – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Shawn Wilson, age 55, of Meagher’s Grant, on May 3, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones at home.

Shawn was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 26 years, Annette Wilson; his mother, Greta Wilson; his children, Brian (Samantha) Dort and Sara (James) Leighton; and his cherished grandchildren, Landyn, Leland, Ethan, Cooper, Rebecca, Andrew, and Abby. He shared special bonds with his nephew, Michael Brewer, and his cousin, Matt Surette. He will also be fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law, Mark and Dale Brewer, and Dwayne (Maria) Brewer; his sister-in-law, Kim Brewer; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Shawn is also survived by his birth family, who will always hold a special place in his story.

Born in 1971 in Digby, Nova Scotia, Shawn lived a full and adventurous life. At the age of 16, he began working and traveling, starting a journey that would take him across the country. He spent time in British Columbia tree planting and, during the off-season, pursued his love of travel—a passion he shared with his mother, with whom he explored many parts of Canada and the United States.

Over the years, Shawn’s work took him from Nova Scotia to British Columbia and Alberta, where he became an exceptional machine operator in the forestry and construction industries. Those who knew Shawn recognized his remarkable skills on these machines.

Shawn had many passions, including surfing, diving, traveling, hunting, fishing, and biking. Above all, he treasured time spent with family and enjoyed the company of friends, often over an “occasional” beer.

Family was always Shawn’s top priority. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a caring son. Throughout his life, he formed many lasting friendships and leaves behind a legacy of love and connection. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Shawn was predeceased by his father, Douglas Wilson; and his parents-in-law, William “Billy” and Audrey Brewer.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

In keeping with Shawn’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
