Terrance "Big Ken" Joseph Urquhart

Urquhart, Terrance “Big Ken” Joseph – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terrance Joseph Urquhart, affectionately known to family and friends as “Big Ken,” on May 29th, 2026, at the age of 66.

Terrance “Terry” was born to Eric and Phyllis (Glawson) Urquhart of Dartmouth, eventually moving to Chaswood in 1969. Terry resided in Cooks Brook for the majority of his adult life and was known for his kind and generous heart, sense of humour and the love he had for his family and friends. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all.

Terry was a creative person and a ‘jack of all trades’ kind of man. Some would joke he was a master of none though, unless it was a Volkswagen Golf, that one he mastered. His work life covered multiple trades from mechanics, truck driving, excavating to drilling and finally drywall finishing. He even had a stint as a helper on a ship to South America in his youth but quickly realized that was not his calling.

Terry, one of 12 children, was taller than his siblings which he jokingly was proud to remind them of. He lived and loved hard. He played harder, sadly the playing hard generally resulted in some sort of ‘accident’, and as they say, within a few kilometres of home. Following those years, he could no longer claim the honour of being the tallest Urquhart.

His truest blessing though, was becoming a grandfather. His grandchildren gave him a second wind. There wasn’t a thing he wouldn’t do for them and spent every chance he could with them.

Terry will be fondly remembered by his wife, Terry; daughter, Leigh (Brent); and his cherished grandchildren, Sophia, Elania, Russell, and Delilah. He also leaves behind daughter, Shanda, her family, many siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. His memory will forever be treasured by all who loved him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Phyllis; siblings, Norman, Christine, Jimmy, Becky and Cindy.

In keeping with Terry’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and condolences during this difficult time.

A celebration in honour of Terry’s life will be held on Saturday, June 6th beginning at 2 pm in 970 Hwy 224 Pine Grove (Gays River Road). The family welcomes all friends to join them as the bid farewell to a beloved and cherished father, grandfather, brother and friend.
