In loving memory of Janet Marie Horne of Enfield, NS it is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Janet Marie Horne, age 71 on August 4, 2026.
Janet was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Horne of Enfield. Janet lived her years marked by kindness, loyalty, love of family and treasured friends who were there for her always. Her witty and spontaneous humour made for many fun times. She enjoyed kayaking, Saturday nights with Hannah, girl trips, gardening, and thrifting. Janet worked directly with the public as an administrative assistant with Bedford Dental, Elmsdale Vision Centre and The Hearing Specialist. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people. Along the way she made countless lifelong friendships.
Special thanks to Janie Conely and Sandra MacPhee who drove her to many appointments during her illness, those who visited, cared for her and brought meals.
She leaves behind her much loved son, Matt; his partner, Tricia Heinrich; Janet’s partner, Alvin Freeborn; her sisters, Norma McDonell and Patricia Parker; her darling granddaughter, Hannah; step-grandchildren, Mitchell, Ava and Mason; her nephews, Robbie Parker and Luke McDonell.
Through her illness these past two years, Janet had her wonderful friend and our “family nurse” Janice Smith by her side to encourage, comfort and to care for her. There are no words to tell you how grateful we are. “Janet is inside each of us who loved her and will always be.”
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Janet’s life on Saturday, August 15, 1-4 p.m., in Enfield Fire Hall. Donations may be made to Caring and Sharing, Enfield caringandsharinghants@gmail.com
