It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Clarence Maxwell Logan, on September 21, 2026, in Oakville, Ontario, at the age of 91.
Born in Caribou Mines, Nova Scotia, Clarence was part of a large family, and the youngest of thirteen children. He was the devoted and loving husband of Catherine (Reynolds) Logan, his beloved wife of 69 years. Their enduring bond was a beautiful example of commitment, strength, companionship and love. Clarence adored Kaye, and together they built a life and family filled with love and treasured memories. He was the proud father of Shelly (Wayne), Cairine, Michael (Andrea), and Marilyn (Alan). He was fiercely proud of his children and took immense pleasure in watching their lives unfold. He was a devoted and delighted grandfather to Bradley, Andrew, Christopher, Sarah, Ryan, Jonathan and Katelyn, and a loving great-grandfather “GGDad” to Ian and Abigail.
Clarence’s early years in a small gold-mining community shaped the course of his life. From an early age, he developed a deep curiosity and appreciation for the natural world, becoming a lifelong nature enthusiast and prospector. His passion led him to study Geology at Acadia University and, ultimately, to a successful and rewarding 33-year career with Noranda Exploration Company Ltd. Though his heart always remained in Nova Scotia, his work took him progressively westward and around the world.
While Clarence was accomplished in his career, his greatest pride and joy was always his family. Following his retirement, Clarence found great enjoyment in painting, gardening, travelling and, most importantly, spending time with his family. He especially cherished his time at his happy place, “the cottage” in Upper Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. There he could enjoy the beauty of nature and the simple pleasures of life.
Clarence was a man who took great pride in those he loved and found his greatest happiness in being surrounded by them.
His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and his memory forever cherished.
A family viewing will take place at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, Oakville, Ontario, prior to cremation. A Memorial Service is planned at a later date in Nova Scotia.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honoured that donations in his name be considered to The St Michael's Hospital Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
