Miller, Mary Lora

Miller, Mary Lora – Age 83, Centre Musquodoboit, passed away July 1, 2015, in Braeside Home for Special Care, Middle Musquodoboit. Born in Wittenburg, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Stella (Laidlaw) Taylor. In her earlier years, she had been a Sunday school teacher, C.G.I.T. and Girl Guide leader. Mary had been a member of Riverside United Church where she sang in the choir and was an honorary elder. She was also a member of the Musquodoboit Valley Hospital Auxiliary and Upper Musquodoboit Fellowship Club. Mary was an avid bowler and loved to dance.

Surviving are her children, Gerald (Lois), Joan (Dan) Laffin, Larry (Heather), John (Donna), Dale (Pam); daughter-in-law, Krista; son-in-law, Phillip Kent; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roderick (Linda), John (Velma); sister, Zeta Sanford; brother-in-law, Kevin McCallum. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald; daughter, Dianne; son, Robert; brothers, James, Cecil, Donald; sister, Faye McCallum.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday, and funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, both in Riverside United Church, Elmsvale, Rev. Dr. Linda Yates officiating. Burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Musquodoboit Valley Health Foundation – Braeside, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
