Greencorn, Howard – Age 89, of Canso, passed away on June 9, 2025.
Howard was loved and will be deeply missed by his wife, Emily Marie Ismond; daughters, Della Fitzpatrick (Frank), Mary Greencorn (Manfred), Shirley Greencorn (Dave); stepchildren, Mary Christina Harding, Aleta DeLorey, Bonny DeLorey, Timothy Delorey (Nancy), Drew DeLorey; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Howard was predeceased by his son, Laurie Greencorn, May 14, 2022; daughter, Leona Greencorn, December 15, 2024; and stepson, Anthony DeLorey, June 13, 2013.
Howard served in the Royal Canadian Ordinance Core from 1950 - 1953. While Howard was married to his first wife, Shirley he worked as a cook on a fishing trawler out of Canso. Later Howard worked at the meal plant for Canso Fish. He was involved in a workplace explosion and was burned but survived. Howard went on to build and own a grocery store. He later ran a taxi service in Canso. He and Emily bought and remodelled many homes together. Howard’s wit and stories will be missed by those who loved him.
Howard moved into Vimy Court, Truro for his final days. Words cannot express the family’s gratitude for the kindness and compassion shown by all staff.
Howard has requested to be cremated with no funeral service. His ashes will be placed by family at a later date.
