McCorkill, Wendy Marilyn – Age 80 of Nine Mile River, passed away July 23, 2025 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Up until the last month and a bit, she was a road running firecracker. She was witty with a hint of sarcasm, stubborn, lovingly kind and had the best giggly laugh. She ALWAYS had her hair coiffed just so, sporting a perfectly matching and colorful outfit with coordinating jewellery, nails and lipstick.
She was a long-standing member of Nine Mile River United Church and dedicated Trustee of Nine Mile River Community Hall. Wendy thoroughly enjoyed spending her time volunteering at many community events including church suppers and teas, kids Christmas parties and tree lighting, Wednesday night Bingo and senior lunches at Superstore. She loved going for breakfast with her friends everyday and weekly TOPS meetings.
Wendy spent several years working at Border Brokers and Livingston, but her favorite job was being 2nd Mom to her “kids” – first to Wendy, Brandon, Todd and Troy Matheson and then to Justin and Morgan Miller.
Wendy is survived by sister, Sheila Ross; brother, Brian McCorkill; sister, Linda (Fulton) Killen; sister-in-law, Sandra Mallard; nieces and nephews, Annette, Jamie, Tami, Jennifer, Scott and Jessica; several great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by parents, Gary and Marjorie McCorkill; husband, Raymond Thompson; brothers, Neil and Kevin; and brother-in-law, Frank.
We all live in peace and love knowing her and Raymond are tearing up the dance floor together once again.
Cremation has taken place.
Funeral service will be held August 5 at 2 p.m. in Nine Mile River Community Hall, 7160 Highway 14, Nine Mile River with Rev. Natalie Buchanon-Rutherford officiating. Family interment will be in Hardwoodlands Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Nine Mile River Community Hall or Nine Mile River United Church.
