Ronald "Mick" Edmund Clarke

Clarke, Ronald “Mick” Edmund –Aged 90 years. With deep love and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald “Mick” Edmund Clarke, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished member of his community on September 11, 2025.

Mick lived a life defined by service, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those around him. He shared 69 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carolyn “Pat”, a partnership rooted in love, laughter, and mutual devotion.

His greatest joys were his family and his lifelong dedication to helping others. He leaves behind his children, David (Frances), Daniel (Kristy), and Darlene; grandchildren, Katherine, Kristopher, Jason, Andrew, Zachary, and Nicholas; and great-grandchildren, Ella, Dylan, Ember, Sebastian, Kiera, and Scarlett, each of whom carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength.

Mick’s spirit of service shone brightly through his 33+ years with the Dartmouth Volunteer Fire Department, and 12 years in Meaghers Grant Fire Department. He served as President of the Maritime Fire Fighters Association (1993–1995), and for 15 years, coordinated the Neighbourhood Watch in Meaghers Grant. His faith guided him as he served on Anglican Church Councils in both Bramalea, Ontario and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He was a proud member and served as President of the Seniors Club in Musquodoboit Harbour, and could always be found with a deck of cards in hand, ready for any game, any time.

A love of sports was sparked very early in life as he followed older brothers to the baseball field, the hockey rink, and Brightwood golf course, where his love of golf led him to compete in many amateur tournaments. Other interests included woodworking, hunting, fishing, and engaging in opportunities to tells stories.

His career began at Construction Equipment and later as a production accountant and coordinator at Ball Packaging (retired in 1989) reflecting his dedication and work ethic.

Mick was predeceased by his parents, William and Agnes (Simpson) Clarke; brothers, Charles and William; and sisters, Joan and Kathleen.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Admiral Long Term Care Centre, especially Shelley D, Lisa, Anne, the Waverly Wing, and all nursing and CCA staff. Special appreciation to Florence and the other sitters who cared for Mick in his final months.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Parkinson Society Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 2 p.m. in 144 Baker Dr., Common Room, 2nd floor.
