Guyette, Leo Joseph Keats – Age 96, of Timberlea (formerly of Enfield, Elmsdale & Springhill) died peacefully at home on his birthday, September 11, 2025. Born in St. Peter’s, NS, he was a son of the late Alfred “Alcide” Thomas and the late Lillian Gertrude (Palmer) Guyette.
A long-time respected teacher, man of devout faith, active community volunteer, talented musician and gardener/florist, Leo gave generously of his time and talents to many worthy organizations and events. A kind man and gracious host, his door was always open to company and those in need. Strangers were just friends he hadn’t met yet.
Surviving are his children, Kim (Doug), Leo (Wendy), Claire (Peter), Michael (Catherine), Rosemary (Dick), Dawn (David), Trish (Jack); 19 grandchildren; 19 (+1 soon-to-be) great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; in-laws, Lloyd and Suzanne Pottie, Ross Pottie, Louis Kruszewski, and Ann Brown; many cousins, nephews and nieces (he was especially close to Lisa and Laurie); and several honourary adoptees. He was predeceased by wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Pottie); his parents; sister, Elizabeth; brothers, Richard and Edward (infancy); great-grandchild, Atlas; son-in-law, Sherman; in-laws, Judy (MacDonald) and Ozzy Smith, Vivien (Pottie) Kruszewski, Aline (Cormier) Pottie, Huguette (LaCoste) Pottie.
Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am, Saturday, October 11, 2025 in St. Bernard Catholic Church, 251 Hwy 2, Enfield, with Father Gerald David presiding. A reception will follow in Enfield Fire Hall. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery Columbarium. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Chalice Canada, or a charity of choice.
