Eddy, Gary Bruce – Gary Bruce Eddy passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. He was 78 years old.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol; his son, Christopher; his daughter, Michelle Campbell (Craig); and his grandchildren, Lauren Eddy and Rachel, Brendon, and Cameron Campbell. Gary was predeceased by his father, Spencer Eddy; his mother, Elizabeth (Miller) Eddy; and his brother, David Eddy.
Born in 1947, Gary grew up in Dartmouth, graduated from Prince Andrew High School, and proudly served for 29 years as a Firefighter with the City of Dartmouth and HRM before retiring in 1998.
During his years in the fire department, Gary loved riding at the rear of the truck, always being positioned to jump into action and run into burning buildings and provide assistance to others as a first responder.
Upon retiring from the fire department, Gary and Carol relocated from Dartmouth to East Chezzetcook where they became well-known residential real estate developers, constructing several multi-unit housing buildings in surrounding communities.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman who would take any and every opportunity to be out fishing or hunting. When the seasons were open, you would find him alone, waist deep in a river fly fishing or in the woods hunting deer with his buddies, many of whom were boyhood schoolmates who became lifelong friends. Some of the moments he most enjoyed were spent with good friends during fly fishing excursions in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The family would like to express appreciation to everyone for the phone calls and visits made to Gary while he with us. And we will be forever grateful to the doctors, nurses, and palliative care staff for their care, kindness, and compassion for Gary.
Cremation has taken place.
Following Gary’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation - Palliative Care Unit.
