Edward "Eddie" Harris Arnold

Arnold, Edward “Eddie” Harris– age 77, of East Jeddore. It is with heartbreak we announce his passing on December 30, 2025, in Ocean View Manor. Born in Halifax he was a son of the late William “Bill” and Margaret “Marine” Arnold.

His first job started him off as a bus boy for the House of Commons, where he moved on to work for Gillis Company Fencing. Maritime Divers was his next choice. Onward and upward to Dominion Diving, which was one of his favourite jobs, then into being a deck hand with Fulton Power and boys. Afterwards he took on the role of captain, working his two fishing vessels, the Atlantic Squire and Blaine and Glenn. He was born to navigate to open seas! He worked for Jim Dooks A1 Excavating, which led him working for Municipal Group. He retired as foreman for Dexter‘s Construction.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Darlene Rose (Power) Arnold; son, Eddy (Michelle); daughter, Carrie (Joey); grandchildren, Alysha (Matt), Jordan (Nate), Jock (Brandi), Isaiah (Angela); and great-grandchildren, Elowyn, Lily, Rosalie, Brooklyn, Meilani, Maverick, Carter, Scarlett and Mason; brother and sisters, George (Bernice), Richard (Gail), Dennis (Sheila), Shirley, Carol (Douglas), Ernie (Sylvia), Allan, Patrick; sisters-in-law, April, Mimi and Nancy.

He is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Avis (Wray), Paul, David (Cheryl), Victor, Vincent, Tammie; and brother-in-law, Marshall.

One of his greatest pleasures in life was giving the shirt off his back for another and carrying on with his grand and great-grandkids. He was always there when one needed a helping hand and he would always show to support his grandkids, whether it be cheering them on at hockey, baseball, or bowling.

A special thank you to homecare for their utmost respect and love they shared with him, Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital for giving him the freedom to wander widely and to Heather for guiding us gently through the difficult times to come. Big thanks to Ocean View for putting up with all his kisses he loved to share and acts of foolishness.

There will be no visitation.

Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m. on January 10, 2026, in Jeddore Baptist Church in Head of Jeddore. Reception to follow downstairs. Burial will take place in the spring.
