Higgins, Douglas Clifford – Age 80 of Truro passed away on November 2, 2026, in Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow.
Born in Murchyville, he was a son of the late Clifford and Lois (Fleming) Higgins.
Doug married the love of his life, Roberta Phillips Higgins. Over their married life, they had a love for flea markets. Every weekend they could be found somewhere in the province selling at flea markets. Doug was employed with the Town of Truro for many years, from where he retired. During his years with the Town, Doug met so many people. He could walk down any street in Truro, and there were few people he did not know. Doug had a passion for repairing bicycles as well as repairing watches and clocks. You could always find him tinkering with a bike, watch or clock for someone. In later years, after a stroke, Doug moved to Glen Haven Manor, where he acquired a passion for doing jigsaw puzzles. Doug’s puzzles adorn many a wall in houses of friends and staff of the Glen Haven Manor.
Doug will be dearly missed by brother, Gary (Brenda); sister, Linda (Dave), both of Stewiacke; and brother, Murray, of BC (who has not seen him for years but who loves and misses him dearly); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his wife, Roberta; sister, Judy (Roy); brother, Larry (Helen).
The family would like to thank the staff of Glen Haven Manor, where Doug’s presence was very special to all of them. As well, we wish to thank the doctors and nurses at Aberdeen Hospital Emergency and Palliative Care Unit.
Cremation has taken place.
There will be a private family burial in Higginsville Cemetery at a later date.
