Bonnell, Percy William – Age 82, of Truro, passed away in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, on Monday, August 24, 2026, with his wife, Diane by his side, after a very short battle with cancer.
Percy spent his whole career working for Scotsburn Dairy where he worked his way up from working in the milk fridge to Sales Executive in the 44 years that he worked there. He also loved horse racing and he got to live out a dream of being a part owner of an outstanding horse, Wakashi Hanover, who won the North American Cup in 2015. He was so proud of that accomplishment, a once in a lifetime opportunity and he would tell you all about Waki any chance he got.
Percy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Diane; daughter, Jennifer (Darryl); son, Scott; granddaughter, Paige, who was the light of his life; sister, Susan (BC); nephews, Mark, Jamie, Andy, Stephen, Seth; and nieces, Sarah, Carlene, Sonya, and Molly: best friend, partner in crime, and fellow horse owner, Bruce Kennedy (Sheila).
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, James, Robert, and Harold; and sister, Mary Jane.
We would like give many thanks to the wonderful nurses and doctors on the palliative care floor who took amazing care of Percy during his short time there. We would also like to give thanks to his wonderful family doctor, Dr. Amanda Webster, and the whole team at Village Family Physicians for their constant and continued care.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service as that is not what Percy wanted.
If so desired, donations in Percy's memory to Canadian Cancer Society or Colchester SPCA are welcomed.
