Humphreys, Richard “Rick” Donald – passed away suddenly at home in Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 14, 2026 at the age of 67.
Born in Halifax, Rick grew up in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia. He lived and worked in both Nova Scotia and Alberta during his younger years before settling in British Columbia, where he spent the last 35 years of his life.
Rick was known as a dedicated hard worker in the various jobs he held throughout the years and particularly enjoyed his work in landscaping and painting. He had a passion for music, a welcoming heart, and always saw the good in everyone. He treasured the many friendships he built over the years and held dear the memories of time spent with family and friends. Rick had a deep appreciation for nature, found peace in the beauty of the outdoors, cherished mountain and ocean views, and especially loved the freedom of hitting the open road on a motorcycle: “Four wheels move the body, but two wheels move the soul.”
He was predeceased by his parents, Art and Marion Humphreys; and his brother, Kevin.
Rick is survived by his sisters, Karen Lynch (Eric Lowe) of Porters Lake, NS; and Ethel Bayers (Barry) of Musquodoboit Harbour, NS; his brothers, Wade (Julie) of Miramichi, NB, Bud (Leona) of West Chezzetcook, NS, and Mike of Porters Lake, NS; his granddaughter; his daughter, Rikki-Leigh; and his son, Nicholas. He will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, many friends, and extended family.
The family finds comfort in knowing Rick is reunited with Mom, whose unconditional love and unwavering support helped him through many difficulties in his life. He missed her greatly.
A private family graveside service and interment will be held in Musquodoboit Harbour at a later date.
Donations in Rick’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, if desired, or to a charity of your choice.
