Ethel "Frances" Perrin

Perrin, Ethel “Frances” – age 85 of Dean passed away on December 18, 2025 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Dean, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Mona (Kindervater) Gammell.

Frances’ life was one of service to her family, students, community, and church. She was a loving and caring mother to her four children, Joanne, Jeanette, Garth and Paul. Mom instilled values of hard work, volunteerism, compassion and kindness in her children. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, Ryann and David travelling on adventures, reading stories and attending their concerts and games.

Frances spent her working career as a teacher at various schools in the Halifax County School Board and before returning home and teaching the majority of her years at Upper Musquodoboit Consolidated School, the final six as principal. She captivated her students as she read aloud the tales of Anne Shirley bringing those stories to life. She helped provide opportunities to students from the area to participate in swimming lessons and school trips around the Maritimes.

In her spare time she worked with Dad on the farm in the hay and blueberry fields and in the maple woods. This led to involvement as a director of the Wild Blueberry Producers of Nova Scotia, CONFORM Ltd., Nova Forest Alliance and the Dean Produce Co-op

In the community she was active as a member and leader of the Community Health Board, Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital. She spent several years on the Board of Directors of the Upper Stewiacke Co-op, Sharon-St. James Credit Union and Arimathea Funeral Co-op.

Frances was a very dedicated member of Sharon Presbyterian Church serving as the Church Organist for approximately 60 years. She was a member of the Session and Board of Managers. She served as Moderator of the Halifax-Lunenburg Presbytery. Frances was also the chairperson of the Upper Musquodoboit Pastoral Charge.

She was a fantastic cook, providing meals for family, friends and work crews on the farm. She filled in her days knitting, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and enjoying music.
Frances is survived by her children, Joanne, Jeanette (Jim), Garth (Karla) and Paul; grandchildren, Ryann and David; step-grandchildren Kyla, Nick (Brittany) – Leland; sisters, Shirley Barker and Wanda Smith; sister-in-law, Nancy Gammell and brother-in-law, Victor MacKinnon; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, David; brothers, Calvin, Terence, Wayne and Gordon; sisters, Elizabeth, Martha, Beverley, and Dorothy; son-in-law, Brian MacLeod; brothers-in-law, Bill Barker, Alvin Lemmon, and Kennard Smith. She was also predeceased by David’s family - Marion (Clifford) Lemmon, Walter (Lois), Victor (Ruby), Lyman (Mabel), Edson (Claudia), Ray (Rosalie), Eleanor, Elizabeth, George and Ella (Gerald) Cox

Her family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Colchester East Hants Health Centre and those providing care for Mom in-home.

A funeral visitation will be held Sunday, December 21 at 2-4 and 6-8 and the funeral will be held Monday, December 22 at 2 p.m. both in Sharon Presbyterian Church, Dean.

Loren Stanley Nelson

Nelson, Loren Stanley – age 80 of Shubenacadie, peacefully passed away in Colchester East Hants Health Centre on December 16, 2025 with his daughter, Janie and son-in-law, Adam by his side.

Born to Thelma Vivian Nelson (Campbell) and Sydney Blackburn Nelson in a little farmhouse at the end of Parker Road in Mill Village, Loren was one of 11 children. Growing up, Loren worked and played on the farm, sledding on the back fields in the winter, and skating the Rines brook all the way to Sipekne’katik and back. In the summers, he would lay under the huge elm on the farm, and daydream about what his future life would look like.

Growing up on the farm, Dad became a ‘jack of all trades’, and if you couldn’t afford it, you either built it or made it. A skill and motto he used various times throughout his life.

Dad worked at various jobs after he got married but spent the most time working as a heavy-duty mechanic for the Department of Highways until his retirement.  His real passion, however, were antique cars.

He had fond memories of his black and yellow 1957 Ford Fairlane and his beloved 1945 Ford truck, iconic red, that he in his own words “built from the chassis up”. He was a Ford man through and through.

Dad leaves a huge hole in the hearts of the people he leaves behind, daughter, Janie (Adam Isenor); son, Gary Nelson; grandsons, Austin, Trenton, Gage, Rhys and Ewan and his “Gampie’s boy”, Brandon. Dad also leaves behind his grand-doggies, Sophie and Sadie who always happily “cleaned his glasses” for him. Dad also leaves behind his sisters, Marion Schofield, Sylvia Fisher, Cora Weir; and his brother, Darrell.

Besides his parents, Dad was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald, Otis, Seward and Albert; and his sisters, Millie and Linda.

In lieu of a funeral service, I encourage you all in Dad’s memory to go for a Sunday Drive, because in his own words “Sundays don’t last that long.”

Fredrick "Fred" McKenzie Fraser

Fraser, Fredrick “Fred” McKenzie – Age 98, of Dartmouth.  It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our father, Fred, on December 9th, 2025 after a short stay in Opal Ridge Hall Enhanced Care. 

Born in Higginsville, he was the son of the late Bryson and Vera (Stevenson) Fraser.

Dad grew up on the family farm in Higginsville where he developed a love and appreciation of the outdoors which stayed with him all his life.  After working in logging camps in NS and BC, he went on to attend the Agricultural College in Truro.  In 1949 he met our mom, Elva, and settled in Dartmouth where they built the family home of the past 70 years. At that time dad also embarked on a wonderful 35-year career with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, starting as a draftsman, obtaining his Accredited Appraiser (AACI) designation in 1966 and retiring in 1985 as Chief Appraiser, Atlantic Region.  Dad would jokingly say that including retirement he was on the company payroll for 76 years.  

Dad was a self-taught handyman, truly gifted in many trades, and could fix or build just about anything.  From designing and building our family home, repairing automobiles, or master woodworking, he was the family’s go to for all things mechanical or building related.  In his retirement years he enjoyed a great deal of time in the woods and trails on his ATV exploring the area where he grew up.  He was a devoted dog lover and looked forward to all family pet visits.  Well into his mid 90’s he developed a keen interest in building the most complicated Lego models.  

Most importantly, Dad built a life on a foundation of good, honest intentions and a profound love for his family.  He was a beloved husband of Elva for 70 years, a loving father and a treasured grandfather and great grandfather, roles which he embraced wholeheartedly.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever cherish the memories of his smile, his generosity, his nod of approval conveying respect and love, or his multiple hand slap hellos and goodbyes.  He and mom were the heart of the family and will be greatly missed.       

Fred was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Elva (Glawson).  He is survived by his children, Debbie (Stephen) and Terry (Corinne), both of Dartmouth.  He leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Chris (Laurielle), Leah, Ellen (Jordan) and Ryan (Grace); and great-grandchildren, Jaxyn, Brooke, Jayce and Luke.  Dad was also blessed to have had a close relationship with several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Glawson, Marion Williams and Bernice (Byron) Taylor; and brother, Francis “Mike” (Donna); as well as sister in-laws, Jean and Carol. He was predeceased by brothers, Edson, Richard “Dick”, Allen; and sister, Julia Sullivan.    

The family would like to extend their profound thanks and appreciation to all the wonderful health professionals and caregivers for their exceptional care of Dad.  Special thanks to his long-time family physician, Dr. Robert Oliver, Dr. Rendon, caregivers and nurses at Opal Ridge Hall (Maynard) and caregivers at Bayshore Home Care.

A family interment will be held in the spring at Higginsville Cemetery.

Irvine Wallace Singer

Singer, Irvine Wallace – With deep sadness, the family of Irvine Singer, age 74, of Shubenacadie East, Nova Scotia, announces his peaceful passing on Monday, December 8, 2025, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Middle Musquodoboit, Irvine was the son of the late Wilfred and Pearl (Conrad) Singer.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Shelley (Taylor), and his younger brother, Donnie (Marion). He is survived by his children, Andrew (Anna), Shubenacadie East; and Nicole (Adam) Baden-Clay, Antigonish; grandchildren, Maddison, Christopher, Matthew, Emma, and Cameron; sisters, Katherine (Rick) Joedicke, Dartmouth; and Jean Singer, Hamilton, ON; as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends who felt like family.

Irvine’s formative years were shaped by Scouting, where he developed lifelong friendships—especially with his Scoutmaster, Donald Scott—and earned the prestigious Queen’s Scout Award. An avid athlete in his youth, he excelled in basketball and softball, and was named Male Athlete of the Year upon graduating from SCHS.

Throughout his working life, Irv was a heavy equipment operator, a career that took him to mines and worksites across Nova Scotia. He was known for his hard work, skill, and the countless stories he shared from those years on the job.

Irv’s passions were simple and rooted in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing at the “old church” in Lower Caledonia, where many cherished memories were made over decades with family and friends. Growing up on the Shubenacadie River fostered his lifelong connection to the water; he spent much of his adult life fishing near the Stewiacke Fish Shack. Equally dear to him was his garden overlooking “his” river. A dedicated gardener with a true green thumb, he produced an abundance of vegetables each year—especially his well-known dill pickles, which he delighted in sharing with others.

A welcoming host, Irv loved having neighbours, friends, and family drop in for a cup of tea and a chat. In his later years, he deeply appreciated the companionship of regular phone calls and the support provided to both him and Shelley by dedicated caregivers. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Maria from Earth Angels; the Continuing Care nurses from VON, who supported Irv for many years; and the ICU staff at CEHHC for their compassion in his final days.

Irv had a warm sense of humour and a playful spirit. He loved to tease and be teased in return, especially by his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity, and will be missed by his children, grandchildren, sisters, extended family, and lifelong friends.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative. As per his wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held with family in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Maureen Edith (Roberts) Day

Day, Maureen Edith – Sadly, the family announces the passing of Maureen Edith (Roberts) Day, age 86. Maureen was born in Head of Jeddore, and was a lifelong resident there.

Left to grieve are her children, Daniel (Debbie) Day, Loretta (Randy Carter) Halleran, Allan Day; grandchildren, Sebastian (Tessa) Carter, Keegan (Kyra) Day, Kelsea (Ryan Shay) Day, Sara (Patrick Crowe) Carter; great-grandchildren, Max Craig, Piper Day, Victor and Stetson Carter-Crowe, Maeve Shay; sister, Olga Schnare; best friend of 83 years, Mauritius Parker; and daughter by choice, Pamela Smith-Strong.

Maureen was a wonderful mother, beloved grandmother and loving great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all. Maureen was well known and well liked in her community. She volunteered and canvassed for Heart and Stroke Foundation and was also recognized for her years of service with the Cancer Society selling daffodils. Maureen was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed seeing birds at her window each morning. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Edith (Bonn) Roberts; husband of 52 years, Blair Henry Day; grandchild, Emily Halleran; sister, Mary Roberts; brother, Walter Roberts; niece, Christine Schnare; and daughter-in-law, Denise Day.

The family would like to also express gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Braeside Nursing Home. Donations in memory of Maureen can be made to the Nova Scotia Alzheimer Society, Braeside Nursing Home Recreation Department (Musquodoboit Valley Health Foundation), or a charity of your choice.

Elva "Janet" Taylor

Taylor, Elva “Janet” – On Dec. 6, 2025 Elva “Janet” Taylor, with family by her side went home to be with Jesus in Braeside Home for Special Care.

Born in Truro in 1926, she was the daughter of Sedgwick and Margaret (Burnett) Langille.

She is survived by her sons, Brooke (Liz), Peter (Sherry), both of Chaswood; Timmy (Colleen), Halifax; daughter, Peggy Blair (Gordon), North River; daughter-in-law, Judy, Middle Musquodoboit; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 15 great great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Taylor; sons, Billy and Earl; grandsons, Trevor and Jamie Blair; daughter-in-law, Norma; son-in-law, James Blair.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

Margaret Cassandra (Moore) Pelrine

Pelrine, Margaret Cassandra (Moore) –We are saddened to announce the death of Margaret Cassandra (Moore) Pelrine, age 90, on December 5, 2025.

Margaret raised three children, including all that entailed, plus worked fulltime outside the home, her last employer being CIBC where she worked as a Loan Officer.

Margaret was an avid gardener and she loved to cook, bake and make preserves. As well she was a talented crafter, painter and musician, well known in the community.

She is survived by her sisters, Clara Campbell and Nina Dort; sons, Kirk Pelrine (Diana), Kim Pelrine; and daughter-in-law, Faye Pelrine; grandchildren, Alana Pelrine, Nicole Andrews, Robert Moore, Matthew Pelrine, Trent Pelrine; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Henry Moore and Mary Moore; siblings, Robert Moore, George Moore, Henry Moore, Richard Moore, Ronald Moore, Edgar Moore and Rita Pickles; husband, Abraham Pelrine; and sons, Andrew Pelrine, in infancy and Paul Pelrine.

We would like to thank all staff at Shoreham Village for their care of Margaret, during her time there.

Mary (Harding) Walker

Walker, Mary (Harding) – age 88 of Dartmouth, died peacefully on December 6, 2025 in The Admiral, Dartmouth.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Bridget (George) Harding; husband of 31 years, Vernon “Vic” Walker; and brother, Edward Harding.

She is survived by daughters, Victoria Myers (David), Cynthia Beaton (Paul); grandchildren, Laura Mason (Cory), Julie Beaton (John Nichols), Colleen Johnson (Matthew), Susan Beaton (Olivia King), Steven Beaton and Mark Myers; great-grandchildren, Grant, Bridget, Brenna, Erin and another due in April 2026; sisters, Joanne Ring, Dealy Dawe; and many nieces and nephews.

She was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland before Confederation. She and her husband and two young daughters moved to Nova Scotia in 1965. When she lived in Musquodoboit Harbour, she worked at Save Easy and Forest Hill Drug Mart in Jeddore. She was an active volunteer in her parish of St. Phillips and in The Birches. She moved to Dartmouth in 2003.

She was fiercely independent and private. She loved her family and especially enjoyed preparing holiday meals. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and started preparing in September, often putting up her highly decorated trees in October.

She loved a good laugh and when asked how she was doing, she would most often respond by saying, “the devil looks after his own.”

For the past two years, she made her home at The Admiral in Dartmouth. The staff treated her with kindness, respect and dignity.

Funeral mass and interment to be held privately.

Frances Marie McCallum

McCallum, Frances Marie – It is with a broken heart that I share that our momma, Frances Marie McCallum, has had her final wishes fulfilled. She gained her wings and joined her family above on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 69 years young.

Frances was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, to Annie and Edward Mooney of Prince Edward Island. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivan McCallum; her parents; and her sisters, Margaret Anne Mooney and Starlene (Al) Smith. Frances is proudly survived by her children, Jason McCallum, Alberta; and Charlene McCallum, Onslow Mountain; and her grandson, Brendon McCallum, Alberta.

Also deeply important in her life was her devoted partner, Darrell Murphy of Chester, NS, whom she loved dearly, along with his family, who welcomed her so warmly into their hearts. She leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with a circle of friends who became family over the years—most especially Carla, who never left her side and whom Mom loved deeply.

Throughout the years, Mom and Dad were known for their open door—welcoming anyone who needed a place to land. The coffee was always on, and many of our friends and family found a safe, comforting spot when they needed extra love and support. From them, we learned invaluable lessons: that with a full belly and a little love, things will be alright; that there is always something to be grateful for; and that life isn’t about material things—it’s about the love and kindness you show to others. She believed in respecting people right where they were, trusting that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have.

Fran, Franny, Momma Frances—no matter what you called her—made lasting friendships throughout her working years. Social and outgoing, she could make a friend anywhere. Quick-witted and full of spark, she could strike up a conversation with anyone willing to listen. Mom will be remembered for her determination, strength, resiliency, her fiercely protective heart, and her remarkable ability to rise from hardship. Her spicy sense of humor, her green thumb, her appreciation for the little things, her love of all things glitter, and her joy in finding the best sales (and stocking up—sometimes maybe a little too well)… if you ever ran out, you knew Mom would have it.

On behalf of my brother and I, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has reached out with love and support during this most difficult time.

We welcome friends and family to join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 12 p.m.–3 p.m. in Truro Horseman’s Club, 288 Main Street, Truro, Nova Scotia.

Marion Florence (Cullymore) Connolly

Connolly, Marion Florence (Cullymore) – It is with love and gratitude that we remember Marion Florence (Cullymore) Connolly of Wolfville, who was born in 1927, in Halifax. After completing a secretarial course, Marion worked at the Halifax Dockyards, the Shipyards, and the Dominion Store Company.

Marion was a devoted wife and mother, raising four sons with her loving husband, Edward Connolly (1925–2017), her partner of 69 years. Together they built several homes and shared a full and happy life. Upon retiring to Wolfville in 1980, they enjoyed many wonderful years together.

A talented and passionate artist, Marion refined her painting skills well into her 90s. She was a member of both the Bluenose Valley Decorative Artists and the Annapolis Valley Decorative Artists groups. Her many talents extended beyond art—she volunteered generously in her community and took part in activities such as curling, lawn bowling, and parish life as a faithful Catholic.

Marion was an avid gardener and reader, often juggling two or three books at a time. She and Ed also shared a love of travel, spending time in Europe and across Canada while stationed with the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as enjoying vacations in Alaska and the Dominican Republic.

Marion was predeceased by her parents, John “Jack” Herbert Cullymore and Mary Rita (Power) Cullymore; her sister, Mae; and her brother, William.

She is survived by her sister, Joan (Francis) Murphy; her brother, Donald Cullymore; and her sons, John (Carol), Michael (Cathy), Patrick (Darlene), and Christopher (Cindy).

She will also be warmly remembered by her grandchildren, Jaret (Cathy Champoux), Gillian (Eric Sproul), Brent (Brenna Shand), Kyle (Rebecca Betts), and David (Gabrielle Gesner); as well as her great-grandchildren, Dagney, Jasper, Allison, Isla, Ewan, Liam, Ryan, and Clara.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to those who cared for Marion in recent years.

Carole Ann O'Brien

O’Brien, Carole Ann – Age 48, of Bible Hill passed away December 3, 2025 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Nancy (Moir) O’Brien and the late Gary O’Brien.

Besides her mother, she is survived by daughter, Emily (Logan) Samples, Birmingham, Alabama; grandson, Riley; special friend, Mike Roma, Bible Hill.

Cremation has taken place.

Donald "Donnie" Austin Earl Baker

Baker, Donald “Donnie” Austin Earl – Born in East Jeddore in 1957, passed away peacefully in his home in Gaetz Brook on November 30, 2025, surrounded by family.

From a young age, Donnie followed in his father’s footsteps as a fisherman. He became a business owner and proud Captain of the Chelsea Daniel before retiring early to explore other paths, including work as an offshore at-sea observer, dockside monitor, carpenter’s helper, and handyman. Though his career shifted, Donnie remained a fisherman in heart and soul. In his later years, he found joy in selling fish, staying connected to the industry he loved, and making new friends. His greatest passion—and claim to fame—was his homemade Solomon Gundy, smoked salmon, and jerky.

Everyone knew when Donnie entered a room. We imagine him crossing to the other side as the force of nature he was—swinging open the pearly gates, bursting in with his trademark energy, and sharing an animated story of his arrival, complete with embellishments. If you listen closely, you might still hear his infectious laugh.

Donnie is survived by his loving partner and “better half,” Terri-Lyn Foley, who cared for him with devotion in his final weeks. His family will forever be grateful for her nurturing love. He is also survived by his sons, Joey (Amanda) and Daniel; stepchildren, William and Elizabeth (Braydon) Riutta; grandchildren, Ella, Lana, Eli, Ean, Brandon, Taylor, Peyton, Hunter, Marshall, and Matilda; sisters, Lila (Charlie) Richards, Phyllis, and Sandy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, Elsie (Baker); father, Earl; brothers, Ivan and Perley Baker, Jack Worthing; and sister, Joan (Worthing) Patterson.

In keeping with Donnie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. An informal drop-in gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 5th, from 2–4 p.m. in the Old School Community Gathering Place, 7962 Nova Scotia Trunk 7, Musquodoboit Harbour. Casual attire is preferred—rubber boots welcome.

Ralph Arnold Higgins (Sgt. Ret'd)

Higgins, Ralph Arnold (Sgt. Ret’d) – Age 76 of Dartmouth, passed away November 26, 2025 in Dartmouth General Hospital.

Born in Middle Musquodoboit, he was a son of the late Leslie and Edna (Scott) Higgins.

Ralph spent 16 years in the armed services where he received many medals. He served in Golan Heights and Cyprus.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and travelling around the Maritimes.

Surviving are his wife, Norma (Blades); son, Joseph Higgins-Brown; daughter, Theresa Higgins; sons, Duane and Dwight Cross; grandchildren, Kayla and Tyse Higgins, Kyle Coggins and Darcy Cross, Chelsey Pye; great-grandchildren, Isabella Montgomery and Aidain Pye; sisters, Reta Meisner, Barb (Ralph) Larkin, Rosemary (Dave) Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. He was a father figure to Trina Titus.

He was predeceased by wife, Ruth Fall; brother-in-law, George Meisner; nephew, Andrew Taylor; and a great-grandson in infancy.

Cremation has taken place.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 5 at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn United Church with Rev. Kevin Little officiating. Burial will be held in Higginsville Cemetery.

Gary "Mouse" Murray Fielding

Fielding, Gary “Mouse” Murray – passed away on November 16, 2025.

Born in 1948, he was a son of the late William and Muriel Fielding.

Gary lived all his life in Truro and worked at Commercial Equipment for 20 years until they closed. He then drove for Layton’s Taxi for 10 years. Gary made friends with everyone he met.

He was a horse race fan since 1959. He enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores. He also enjoyed watching sports but his greatest joy was making Sunday dinners for his family and taking care of his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his son, Joey (Kayla “Kahlia”) Fielding; daughters, Barbie Fielding, Angie Brooks; and her mother and best friend, Moira MacLeod. He is also survived by sister, Joan Carter; brothers, Tony (Diane) Fielding, Mike Fielding, Bill Fielding; and seven grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Mary and Murray Fielding and brother-in-law, Layton Carter.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 5, 2025, from 2-5 p.m. in Truro Horsemen’s Club, 288 Main Street, Bible Hill.

Dr. Edwin "Ted" Roy Luther

Luther, Dr. Edwin “Ted” Roy – Dr. Edwin Roy Luther “Ted” passed away peacefully at home in Halifax on Saturday, November 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Corner Brook in 1942, Ted was a proud Newfoundlander. He was the beloved son of the late Doris (Hale) and James Luther.

Ted grew up in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, where he loved swimming, berry-picking, bicycling, playing hockey and trout fishing with his father. He excelled in school, particularly in Physics and Math.

Ted attended Memorial University in St. John’s at the age of 16, then on to Dalhousie University to finish his BSc in Physics and Math in 1962. He graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1967, and after a year of general practice in Baie Verte, Newfoundland, he returned to Dalhousie University to complete a residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. After his residency, Ted was awarded a Fellowship to do fetal research in Oxford, England. So Ted and Donna packed up their young family and headed overseas in 1973. Then back to St. John’s, Newfoundland, in 1974, to practice and join the faculty at the new Memorial University Medical School. In 1976, the family of six returned to Halifax, where Ted continued to practice, teach and do research at Dalhousie University. A teacher and researcher at heart, Ted was a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dalhousie University, where he enjoyed challenging new generations of medical students and residents. He was Director of Maternal/Fetal Medicine at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Medicine and a co-director of the Reproductive Care Program of Nova Scotia.

Ted was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and an extraordinary grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was his great pride and joy and his grand legacy. He shared with them his love of travelling, hiking, cycling, skiing and sailing. Always a teacher with his children and grandchildren, he inspired their curiosity, listened to their ideas, and made sure every moment was a chance to learn. His Newfoundland heritage made him an entertaining storyteller, and his tall tales will live forever in the memories of his family and friends.

He will be forever missed and loved by his wife of 61 years, Donna (Taylor); his children, Susan (Douglas), Karen, Craig (Alicia) and James (Wendy). He was the proud grandfather of Madeline (Bill), Nicholas, James (Abby), Caroline, Adelaide (Kalen), Sebastian (Jayde), Oliver (Stephanie), Rebekah (Britton), Isaac, Elsah, Kai and Sabette and great-grandson, Luka. Ted is dearly remembered by his brother, Scott (Ann); sisters-in-law, Betty (Paul), Roberta (Randy), and Cindy; and brother-in-law, Donald (Cheryl). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by Donna’s parents, Ken and Ruby Taylor; brothers-in-law, Kenny and Gordon; sister-in-law, Jeanette; nephew, Chad; and niece, Candace.

The family would like to extend many thanks to Dr. Farooq and nurse Hannah, Dr. Krueger-Naug, Dr. Bourque and Scott Anderson for their excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brunswick Street Mission or the QEII Foundation Palliative Care.

Dennis Arthur Crawford

Crawford, Dennis Arthur – passed away on November 14th, 2025 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. His sudden passing leaves a deep void in the lives of those who loved him.

Born in Pugwash, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Marien (Vandenberg) Crawford. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Gilbert Crawford, James Neil Crawford, Lester Crawford, Cecil Crawford; and his sister, Margaret (Crawford) Canning; brother in-law, Daniel MacLeod; and several nieces and nephews.

Dennis leaves behind his devoted wife, Jane (Higgins); their cherished pup, Eddie; along with their sons, Kyle (Kaitlyn), Adam (Jessie), Bret (Claire), and Trevor. His greatest joy was watching his family grow, and he took deep pride in the men his sons have become. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Madalynn, Baylie, Georgia, Zoey, Hazel, Cole, Audrey, Floyd, and Olivia, each of whom brought him immense joy. Dennis is also survived by his brothers, Vernon (Carol) Crawford, Douglas (Annette) Crawford; sisters, Sadie MacLeod, Eileen (Gary) Scothorn, and Myrna (Brian) Sears; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

Dennis spent many years working in construction, farming, and the forestry business.  

His hobbies were time spent outdoors—fishing and hunting alongside his wife, Jane and their sons—passing down stories, patience, and a lifetime of knowledge. He taught them how to read the land, and respect it. He took great pride in his garden that he and Jane planted every year. 

Above all, he raised his family with the belief that strength is found in character, integrity, loyalty, and kindness. These are the core values he lived by, and the legacy he leaves in the hearts of his sons—men shaped by their father’s steady hands, firm guidance, and unwavering love.

Dennis will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rebecca Leah (DeWolfe) Miller

Miller, Rebecca Leah (DeWolfe)– It is with heavy hearts that we announce Rebecca’s passing at the age of 70, on November 13, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones following a short battle with cancer.

Born in Halifax and raised in West Jeddore, she was a daughter of the late James and Caroline DeWolfe.

Rebecca enjoyed woodworking, diamond painting, laughing and dancing. Her loving partner, Kirk will miss “Becky” and all the fun they had in their short time together. Her last instruction to him was to feed and look after her cats.

She will always be loved and missed by spouse, Kirk DeBay; daughter, April Miller (Corey); Jay Patel, whom she thought of as a son; brothers, John (Carrie), David (Leah), Kevin; sisters, Bev Duivenvoorde, Kimberly (Duane); brother-in-law, John Tiscornia; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sons, Kelly and Scott Miller; brothers, Bruce, Barry and Lyle; sister, Eileen Tiscornia.

Cremation has taken place.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no funeral service.

Edgar "Eddie" Stewart Wamboldt

Wamboldt, Edgar “Eddie” Stewart – passed away at the age of 72 with his family surrounding him on November 10, 2025, after a courageous 15-year battle with cancer. Born in 1953, Eddie was an east ender from Truro, where he developed cherished childhood friendships that lasted throughout his life. 

Eddie dedicated his career to Lafarge in Brookfield, where he was a respected employee for 42 years until his retirement in 2018. Outside of work, Eddie was known for his love of the outdoors, fast cars, and time spent with family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed weekends at the cottages in Brule and Sutherlands Lake, driving his prized 1978 Camero Z28 and sharing his passion for drag racing and stock car races with his close friends. In his retirement, Eddie enjoyed attending car shows, going for a cruise, tinkering with small projects and weekends at the camper making memories with his family. 

Above all Eddie’s greatest joy came from being a father and a grandfather. He will be missed by his son, Colin (Melinda), East Mountain, NS; daughters, Sarah (Jake), Dieppe, NB; and Emily, Dieppe, NB; grandchildren, Bailee, Brooklyn, and Cooper, who brought an endless number of smiles and laughter. Eddie was also survived by his brother-in-law, Phil Nelson; sister-in-law, Colleen Wamboldt; and several nieces and nephews. Eddie was predeceased by his parents, Lawrance and Mary Wamboldt; sister, Sandi Nelson; and brother, Jack Wamboldt. 

Eddie will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness, his stubbornness, and the way he always was available for those he cared about. His strength, love and spirit will live on in all who knew him. 

Cremation has taken place; burial will be determined at a later date. A Celebration of Life will be held in Truro Horseman’s Club on Friday, November 28th, 2025, from 1 pm to 3 pm. In honor of Ed’s easy-going attitude, the family asks you to come as you are in casual attire. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Jonathan Andrew Konrad Adams

Adams, Jonathan Andrew Konrad – Age 43, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on November 10, 2025, having his life cut short due to Huntington’s Disease. He left us with dignity and grace.

He is survived by his mother, Helika (Hudoffsky) Adams; brother, Christoffer; sister, Kristen; his beloved partner and soulmate, Siobhan Mc Nally from Ireland; great-aunt, Liselott from Hamburg, Germany; Uncle Eckart Schroeter (Donna); cousins, Signy Schroeter-Kline (Jeff), Markus Schroeter, Stefan Schroeter (Tanis); and second cousins, Dexter, Gabi, Liam, Finley, Wolff and Magnuss. He was predeceased by his father, Paul Adams; and grandparents, Ulrich and Karola Hudoffsky.

Jonathan loved learning right to the end. He had an incredible, brilliant mind. He was witty, very humble, selfless, wise and a quiet leader. He loved music, reading, hiking and friendship. He was loved by many far and wide. This was evident by the numerous friends he made in Madrid, Spain where he lived for nine years leading hikes through the mountains with people from all over the world. His hiking group became a family to him and to many new people who had moved to Madrid. He created a community. He learned the Spanish language and lived a pure and simple life,

For the past 6 years, he was warmly welcomed by the Mc Nally family. They became his home away from home. He was fascinated by the Irish culture, music and sport. Heartfelt thanks to his partner for her unconditional love for him throughout his Huntington’s journey and thanks also to her family, Mick Senior, Kay, Mick Junior, Debbie and the extended family for giving him joy.

Thank you to his lifelong Nova Scotia friends, who were an incredible support.

There will be no official funeral service. There will be a private family committal on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to the family home (2018 Highway 224), from 3-5 pm on November 16, 2025. Casual dress please.

Another Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Madrid, Spain.

Ronald Edward McKay

McKay, Ronald Edward – age 77, of Lake Egmont, passed away November 6, 2025 in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital.

Born in Jeddore, he was a son of the late Edward McKay and Doris Myers.

Ron married Susie (Dillman) McKay in 2014.

He worked in the woods for many years, also in construction. He was a member of the AFL CIO Union for 25 years. His hobbies were tinkering on the martin guitar and his mandolin. Ron was a longtime member of Truro’s Oldtime/Bluegrass Club, Eastern Shore Club and East Hants Bluegrass Club. He enjoyed long drives in Nova Scotia, shopping at many thrift stores or just sitting around watching TV. He loved working in the woods, cutting his own firewood on his woodlot, hunting, fishing and keeping busy outside. He also loved to cook and bake, especially banana bread.

Ron will be greatly missed by his wife, Susie; daughter, Lynette Myers; son, Jason Myers; sister, Lorna (Myers) McKay; many friends, family and other people who knew him.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 19 at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s United Church, Antrim with Rev. Allan Lynk officiating.
