Logan, Orrie Mitchell – Age 75 of Dutch Settlement. With great sadness, we, the family, announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on January 16, 2016. Born in Dutch Settlement, he was a son of the late James Mitchell and Amy Edith (Isenor) Logan. Over the years, Orrie had many different jobs, but only one career. He loved trucking and he owned and operated Logan Trucking Limited for the past 36 years. He enjoyed stock car racing, along with his trip to Newfoundland moose hunting, hunting at the camp with his brother-in-law, Russ, and nephews, Whitney and Joe. He enjoyed working on his trucks, going to the Nine Mile River dances, and hanging out with friends and family.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Higgins); daughters, Nancy (Bryden Ashley), Tamara (Lindsay) Veniot; grandchildren who he adored very much, Jessie (Devin), Katie (Colton), James, Alyssa (Chris); and his very special great-grandson, Anthony Orrie; sister, Inez (Lester) Isenor; brother, Ivan (Wilma); mother-in-law, Esther Higgins; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Calvin, Hiram, Aubrey; sisters, Greta, Marion, Golda, Millicent; father-in-law, Russell Higgins, beloved nephew, Cpl. Thomas Hamilton.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday from 3-7 p.m. in Riverline Activity Centre, 80 Grono Rd., Dutch Settlement. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.
