Holland (Martell), Mary Yvonne

Holland (Martell), Mary Yvonne – With heavy hearts and a great loss to us, we announce Mom’s peaceful passing on April 7, 2016, with her family by her side. Born in Comeau’s Hill, Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Onesime and Annie (Jacquard) Martell. Mary lived in L’Ardoise, Cape Breton, and in Wedgeport, before moving to Woodside, where she lived for 30 years with her late husband, Ralph, and their children. In 1985, she moved to Barr Settlement Road, where she lived for 29 years, until her husband of 64 years passed away in 2013. She then lived with her daughter in Porters Lake until her passing.

Mary spent her life as a devoted wife and mother, doing odd jobs outside the home and babysitting other children. Mary was involved with the Ladies’ Auxiliary, church groups, and helping many people behind the scenes. She never wanted to be recognized for these things or be the centre of attention. Her open heart, love and kindness were for everyone.

Surviving are daughters, Ann, Jeannie, Annette, Darlene, Esther; son, James, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.

A very special thank you to Dave Hurley for his devoted care to Mom over the years, and to the medical team who cared for her. To her friends old and new; her cousin, Claire; Sister Jean; your calls and visits made such a big difference in her life and final days. To all who brought homemade goodies, flowers, holy cards, scratch tickets, trinkets, you brought a lot of enjoyment to Mom. Mary and Esther had many laughs over everyone trying to fatten Mom up. Thanks for keeping her mind occupied with reading her cards and prayer cards.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, and funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, both in St. Anslem’s Catholic Church, 7037 Highway 207, West Chezzetcook, Father Gregory Agyeman officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be at a later date in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery, 112 Mill Village Road, Shubenacadie. MacLean, Leslie “Les” Wilfred

MacLean, Leslie “Les” Wilfred - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Les MacLean on Sunday, April 3, 2016, in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital, Middle Musquodoboit. With his loving wife and partner of 32 years, Donna (Richardson) MacLean, by his side, he fought hard during his two-year battle with cancer and dealt with his illness with courage until the end.

In addition to his wife, Les is survived by his daughters, Nicola (Kallol) and Rebecca; sister, Linda (Bruce); brother, Scott (Mary); nieces and nephews; and many long-time friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Joyce (Frizzell) MacLean.

Les grew up in Truro and moved to Halifax to attend Dalhousie, where he began his lifelong membership with the Phi Kappa Pi Fraternity. He had a long successful career in food distribution and had worked with many of the chefs and restaurants in the Halifax area. An avid hunter and fisher, Les brought people together and celebrated friendship and a love of good food. He had many good friends and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In his final days, Les received wonderful medical care from Oncology doctors and nurses in QEII Health Sciences Centre, and loving care from Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital - the little hospital with a big heart.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday at 2 pm. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro (no scents, please). Jenkinson, Arthur James

Jenkinson, Arthur James – Age 71, West Chezzetcook, passed away March 31, 2016, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Chezzetcook, he was a son of the late Arthur Jenkinson and Olive (Pettipas) Vaughan. Surviving are son, Daryl; daughter, Jennifer (Mike); grandchildren, Benjamin, Cole, Mickaela, Luke; brother, Robert (Valerie); sister, Darlene (Barry); loving aunt and uncle, Marg and Reg; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Clinton.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Anslem’s Catholic Church, West Chezzetcook, Deacon Howard Oehman presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Phalen, Doris Mae

Phalen, Doris Mae – Age 82, Carrolls Corner, went home to be with her Saviour on March 22, 2106. Born in Carrolls Corner, she was a daughter of the late James and Mabel (McKenna) Hirtle. Doris enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, baking, and her homemade bread was memorable. She also enjoyed listening to music of any kind.

She will forever be loved and missed by her children, Dorothy Castle, at home; Mary (John) Miller, Shubenacadie; Jim (Eileen), Kentville; Sherry Phalen, Heather Mazerolle, Lisa (Ted) Barter, all of Dutch Settlement; brothers, Raymond, Dartmouth; James (Elizabeth), Shubenacadie; Eric (Bonnie), Dutch Settlement; sister, Freda (Bryant) Smith, Fall River; sisters-in-law, June Hirtle, Truro; Patricia Hirtle, Middle Musquodoboit; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John “Bun”; brothers, Laurie, Earl, Ralph; sisters, Lillian Hirtle, Rita Patton, Audrey McLellan, Verna Isenor.

Beazley (Hefler), Doreen – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Doreen passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2016, surrounded by her family. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Annie “Dovie” Hefler. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ken; sons, Derek (Ann), Judson (Cathy), both of Upper Sackville; Kirk (Theresa), Upper Nine Mile River; daughters, Valerie (Ron) Ward, Upper Nine Mile River, Vicki Dickson (Tim), Oakfield; brother, Murray (Jennette), Hantsport; sister, Carole (John) Feetham, Enfield; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Cecil, Lorne, Royce, Graham; sisters, Margarite, Vivian, Iris, Audrey-June; son-in-law, Kevin Dickson.

Doreen enjoyed puzzles (the more difficult the better), word search, playing darts, and card nights with Carole and John. She was also an avid Terry Fox Run supporter, a member of Noel Legion Branch 166, and a lifelong member of the Women’s Institute of Nova Scotia.

No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 29 at 2 p.m., in Elmsdale United Baptist Church, 512 Highway 2, Elmsdale. Blades (Barre), Doreen Edeline

Blades (Barre), Doreen Edeline – It is with great sadness, peace of mind and much love that we announce the passing of Doreen Edeline (Barre) Blades, on March 19, 2016. She will be forever missed by her husband of 58 years, Alvin; her children, Ted (Kathryn), Margaret (Darren), Judy (Rob); grandchildren, Griffin, Winter, Ryan (Leanza), Jayme (Kayla), Anthony, Darcey (Jessica), Jesse (Mackie), Lacey; great-grandchildren, Blayze, Jordyn, Adelynn, Ronan and Hunter, as well as Alvin’s many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. The teenager from Montreal married the farm boy from Nova Scotia, whom she met on a blind date. They began their married life in Ontario where Ted and Margaret were born, then moved to Elderbank, their chosen home, where Judy was born.

Doreen worked as an Avon Lady, a medical receptionist and in the MRHS cafeteria. She was active in the community as a member of the UCW, Hospital Auxiliary, Lionettes, and was the first Lady Lion of the Musquodoboit Valley Lions. As a Lion, she held many positions, but her favourite was 13 years as an International Youth Leader. Doreen’s respect, kindness and teachings were shared with youth from Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Maine.

Doreen and Alvin taught their children the joy of travel, be it local, Canada-wide or Cuba, where they were welcomed as members of a large Cuban family. Her greatest wish was to have children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along the way, she taught us to cook, love unconditionally and come together as a family. Although Doreen has left us physically, her spirit resides in each of us. We will miss her smile, her laugh and her love of the sun.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital. Mom received the best care, personal treatment and respect during her hospitalization. Thank you to Linda Yates and Marjory Cornelius for their support.

As per Doreen’s request, there will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 26 in St. Andrew’s United Church, Elderbank, beginning with a Lions gathering from 1-1:45 p.m., followed by family and friends from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Musquodoboit Valley Lions Club.

Wilcox, Thomas William

Wilcox, Thomas William – Age 94, Dartmouth, passed away March 15, 2016, at home, with his wife at his side. Born in Winnipeg, he was a son of the late John and Rose Annie (Hall) Wilcox. Thomas joined the Royal Navy at Southampton, England and, after serving all over the world with the Royal Navy, he transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy in 1944 with the rank of leading telegrapher. Upon discharge, he was employed as a transmitter operator and, later, took advanced courses in commercial radio.

Surviving are his wife, Georgia; stepson, Tony Hatch of Gore, who he thought of as his own son. He was predeceased by his first wife, Pearl; second wife, Elaine; daughter, Shirley Shergold.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Thomas’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association.

Taylor, Rev. Douglas Dane

Taylor, Rev. Douglas Dane – Age 89, Chaswood. On March 6th, 2016 Doug went home to be with his Lord who he served faithfully for many years. His death occurred in Arborstone Enhanced Care in Halifax. He was a son of the late Ira and Lauretta (Hawboldt) Taylor. Doug graduated from Gordon Divinity School with a Bachelor of Divinity, and his first pastoral service was in Yarmouth County and then in the Miramichi region of New Brunswick. Later, he became a missionary in Northern Ontario with Northern Canada Evangelical Mission, where he established the Cree Gospel Chapel in Moose Factory. He finished up his preaching career in Wittenburg. While busy with his ministry, he also had an electrical business and operated a portable sawmill as well. Following in his father’s footsteps, he was an accomplished pianist and piano tuner and could play just about any instrument he picked up.

Surviving are his wife Mary; son, Dave (Rosemary); daughters, Susan (Ron Cooper), Judy (Bob Parent); seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Taylor. He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, the late Anne Brittain; brother, Donald.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m., and funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m., both in Wittenburg Baptist Church, Pastor Robert MacCormack officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Middle Musquodoboit. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wittenburg Baptist Church or a charity of choice.

Ferguson, Edda Grace

Ferguson, Edda Grace – Age 87, Truro, and formerly of Sydney, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2016, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Grace (Jackson) Phillips. Edda volunteered many hours with UCW, Coxheath Fire Department Ladies’ Auxilliary, was a member and held office in the national and local Seniors’ Federation, sang in many church choirs and the ladies’ barbershop choir, Breton Bells. She worked as a secretary in many different businesses in Sydney, all while raising her family. She was a very social person, making friends wherever she went.

Surviving are her children, Ruth, Darrell (Lynn Russell), Cheryl (Rodney) Burgess; grandchildren, Ken and Elizabeth Ferguson, Billy (Laura) Williams, Bobby Williams, Brandon (Jenn) Williams, Breagh (Vince Di Carlo), Kevin (Katherine) Ferguson, Ben, Katie, Charlie Edwards; step grandsons, Ryan and Jamie Burgess; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah (Ray) Stevens; brother, Stuart (Dot) Phillips; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Sewell; son, Timothy; siblings, Wilbert, Lillian Weir, Helen Butts; half-brothers, Cecil, Harry, Ernest, Wilbur; half-sister, Inez.

Ramsey, Walter Clarence

Ramsey, Walter Clarence – Of Middle Musquodoboit, November 11, 1926 – February 25, 2016. Walter was known as a farmer, carpenter, machinist, reciter of poetry, former manager of the Halifax County Exhibition, secretary of the Musquodoboit Valley horse show, a veteran of The Second World War, and was active in the Royal Canadian Legion and the IOOF. He was a son of the late Douglas Allan and Margaret Elsie (Scott) Ramsey; and the husband of the late Frances (Rose) Ramsey. Surviving are sisters, Alice (Burt) MacHattie, Shirley Bradshaw, Eunice (David) Fizzard; his children, Bonnie Ramsey (Roger Drolet), Beverly (Vincent) Crowston, Brian (Linda), David (June); grandchildren, Francois Drolet (Stephanie Boggs), Stephane Drolet, Arwen Crowston, Devin Crowston (Ashley Forsyth), Melissa (Dave) Conway, Jennifer Lancaster, John (Jennifer) Bowman. He was predeceased by sisters, Grace Rose, Beatrice Andrews; brother, Lawrence.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 2 p.m., beginning with a Legion tribute service in Middleton United Church, Middle Musquodoboit, Rev. Dr. Linda Yates officiating. The family will meet friends at a reception downstairs in the church following the service. Parker, Donald Lloyd

Parker, Donald Lloyd – Age 69, Hilden and recently Debert Court, passed away February 18, 2016. Don was a son of Mildred (Thompson) Parker, Hantsport, and the late Victor Parker, and grew up in Ardoise. A graduate of the Nova Scotia Land Survey Institute, as a young man Don worked as a Land Surveyor for various companies. He worked for 28 years as Manager, Registrar of Crown Lands and Registrar of Land Holdings, at Provincial Crown Lands Record Centre, Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, Halifax. For a two-year secondment (1998-2000) Don was Manager, Northern Region, Land Information Services, Nova Scotia Department of Housing and Municipal Affairs, New Glasgow.

Professional qualifications included Nova Scotia Land Surveyor, Canada Land Surveyor and Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. Additional training included Dale Carnegie, Prospecting and Geology, Tidal Boundaries, Global Positioning, Nova Scotia Black Belt Association (Orange), National Coaching Certification. In 1984-85, Don was President of the Association of Nova Scotia Land Surveyors. Don was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro, since 1973, where he was Elder for twelve years, a Bethel Series leader, on the Christian Education Commission and on the Board of Managers. He was a member of the Shubenacadie Canal Commission.

Don's interests were varied: he belonged to New England Antiquities Research Association, Nova Scotia Muzzle Loading Association, St. Mary's Archers Association, Truro Carvers and Taoist T'ai Chi. For a few years Don put on fireworks displays for Fireworks FX Inc. Don was known for his sense of humour and ability to talk to anyone on any topic. He had an inquisitive mind and read extensively on topics such as history, religion, architecture, war, pyrotechnics, firearms, explosives, rocks and minerals, maps, feng shui, judo, karate, aikado, t'ai chi, antiquity, creativity, mental fitness, watercolours, carving and woodworking.

Don and Gloria enjoyed winter getaways to Costa Rica, the Caribbean and Florida, exploring the Maritimes, fitness programs and daily trail walks together. Don loved his family and will be greatly missed by Gloria, his spouse of 47 years; son, Troy, Toronto; daughters, Robyn, Whitehorse; Kelsi, Hilden; sister, Charlene (Victor) Day, Halifax; brother, David, Ardoise; mother-in-law, Edith MacInnis, Debert; nieces, Laura and Shauna; nephews, Christopher and Martin; great nephews, Hunter and Colton. Don was predeceased by his father; and nephew, Morgan Parker.

Patterson, Watson Oscar "Pops"

Patterson, Watson Oscar "Pops" – It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the loss of Watson “Pops” Oscar Patterson, age 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Watson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at home with his family in East Lawrencetown. Born in Upper Lawrencetown, he was the son of Watson Stuart Patterson Sr. and Eldora (Pettipas) Patterson. Watson spent 33 years fishing for lobster, and in the off season worked for the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation. He was a very talented carpenter throughout his life, and also enjoyed playing cards and working in his beautiful vegetable garden. Watson was a respected member of his community, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and “tearing up the dance floor”.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Worthing); his daughters, Marlene and Darlene Patterson; his sons, Reid (Hope), Randy (Laura Lee); his grandchildren, Jenna (Duane) Stanley and Adam Patterson; his sister, Barbara. Besides his parents, Watson was predeceased by his sisters, Frances, Marlene, Golda; his half-sister, Norma. A very special thank you from the family goes out to “Dad’s Girl”, Jessie Nieforth, and also to Mitch Devoe of the VG Site Palliative Care Unit.

Misener, Harold Francis

Misener, Harold Francis – Aged 70, East Chezzetcook. It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harold Francis Misener, at his family home on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Harold was born, raised and lived his entire life in the Eastern Shore community of East Chezzetcook. Harold was a son of the late Edgar and Kate (Smith) Misener. During Harold’s lifetime he enjoyed the great outdoors including hunting, boating and walks on the beach. Harold loved the sea; fishing was his livelihood and his passion. Harold loved music – music was a family affair for the Miseners. Throughout his life he played instruments including piano, saxophone and bass guitar. As a young man, he was a member of the group ‘The Country Gentlemen’ which brought much joy and fun to many lives along the Eastern Shore. In recent years Harold loved entertaining during family gatherings and playing for his grandchildren Kate and Jack.

Harold is survived by his loving wife and partner of 32 years, Catherine (Rhymes); his daughter, Jennifer (Donald) Arnold; son, Jeffrey; grandchildren, Kate and Jack, all of East Chezzetcook. He is also survived by his sisters, Jean, Kathleen (Peter) Barteaux, Bernice, and brother, Allen (Ruth). Harold is survived by many nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and father-in-law, Albert. He was predeceased by his brother, John (Jackie), brother-in-law, Bobby Gaetz and mother-in-law, Velma Rhymes.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for a visitation with the family on Friday, February 19 from 6-8 p.m. in Christ Church, Lower East Chezzetcook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Genevieve Church, East Chezzetcook at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 20. A reception will follow in the church hall.

Smith, Clara Louise “Kaye”

Smith, Clara Louise “Kaye” – Age 82, of Truro, passed away on February 13, 2016, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Kaye was born in Fox Harbour. Kaye is survived and will be missed by daughters, Yvonne Higgins, Val Smith and son, Greg Bell (Sandi), all of Truro; two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters; sister, Helen Canfield (George), Pugwash; brothers, Art Green (Bertie), Charles Edward Rhude, James Arnold Rhude, all of Ontario; sister-in-law, Donna MacNeil (George), Onslow Mountain; brother-in-law, Wayne Clews (Marolyn), Hilden; as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be also missed by her beloved cats. Kaye was predeceased by her husband, Frederick D. Smith; mother, Ida Rhude; foster mother, Margaret Nairn; brothers, Donald, Gordon and Robert Rhude.

In her younger years, Kaye was an employee of several Truro businesses, including Brookfield Foods and Hall’s Pharmacy. In retirement, she raised thousands of dollars a year for the Colchester SPCA by knitting her famous cat-nip mice.

Special thanks are extended to the dedicated and caring nurses and homecare staff of the Colchester VON, Dr. R. Graham, and Lisa of the Palliative Care Unit.

There will be no visitation or funeral, by request. Kaye’s cremated remains will be buried at a family celebration of her life in Fox Harbour at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Colchester SPCA or Colchester Victorian Order of Nurses.

Creelman, William P. “Bill”

Creelman, William P. “Bill” – Age 75, of Truro, formerly of Upper Stewiacke, passed away February 11, 2016 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was a son of the late William Creelman and Viola (Ashe) Luddington. Surviving are common-law wife, Frances; sisters, Violet, Trenton; Betty, New Glasgow; Helen, Ontario; brothers, Francis, Upper Musquodoboit, Henry, Prince Edward Island. He was predeceased by brother, Spencer.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request.

Holman, Gordon Charles

Holman, Gordon Charles – Age 81, Sheet Harbour, passed away February 9, 2016, in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour, after a two-year battle with cancer. Born in Sheet Harbour, he was a son of the late Elmer and Hazel (Hardy) Holman. Gordon was an avid fisherman, hunter, bicyclist and ATV rider. He loved playing darts, playing pool with his friends at the Sheet Harbour Legion, and going to car shows to show off his beautiful 1969 Lincoln Continental.

He is survived by his sons, Gordon, Jr., Earth; Randall, Beaver Harbour; daughter, Lisa, Hawthorne, Calif.; granddaughter, Samantha Holman, El Segundo, Calif.; Eva Holman, former wife of 30 years; Dianna Westhaver, partner of 17 years; step grandchildren, Spencer Westhaver, Shay-Lynn Westhaver; sister, Carole Ann (Keith) Owen; sister-in-law, Janet Mahar (Holman); many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his beloved pets, Kitty Cat and Princess. He was predeceased by brother, Victor, and a brother in infancy.

Scott, Irene Margaret

Scott, Irene Margaret – Age 92, Newcomb Corner, passed away peacefully February 10, 2016 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. She had resided the past five years in Ivany Place, Bedford. Irene was born in Higginsville and lived there for most of her life. She taught school in Higginsville for many years until she stayed at home to care for her mother, father, and in later years, her brother, during their ill health. Irene enjoyed helping people and for a few years, worked for the HRM as a homemaker. She was a traveler and made several excursions throughout Canada and the U.S. with family and friends. Irene was a life member of Eastern Star and served as the Worthy Matron and Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Maude (Sinclair) Redmond; brothers, Victor and Burris. She is survived by her son, Gary (Beverley); granddaughters, Jennifer, Jacqueline (Derek Land), Stephanie (Paul Gorman); three great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; sister, Louise Logan; sister-in-law, Molly Redmond; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Riverside United Church, Elmsvale, Rev. Dr. Linda Yates officiating. A reception will follow downstairs in Middleton United Church, Middle Musquodoboit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Baker, Mason Leo Earl Jr. “Manny”

Baker, Mason Leo Earl Jr. “Manny” – Age 75, East Jeddore, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2016, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in East Jeddore, he was a son of the late Mason and Edna (Power) Baker. He was a carpenter and enjoyed many hobbies which included gardening, taking care of his animals, carving decoys, dancing, genealogy and reading. He also played the church organ for over 40 years.

Surviving are his wife, the former Gloria Anderson; daughter, Mildred (Alfred) Giovanniello and grandchildren, Ryan and Victoria Lushington, Ashley and Anthony Giovanniello, Citrus Springs, Fla.; son, Mark (Cheryl) and grandchildren, Christopher Dumont and Gabriel Conrod-Baker, Porters Lake; son, Graham (Tina) and grandchildren, Morgan and Allie, East Jeddore; brother, Danny (Sandra), Lake Charlotte; sister, Nellie Baker Stevens (Ronald), Owls Head; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by sister, Doris Stevens; brothers, Robert, Wilson and Stephen.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m., both in Jeddore United Baptist Church, Rev. Aubrey Deslatte officiating. Burial will be in East Jeddore Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Jeddore United Baptist Church or Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital.

Baker, Arthur James

Baker, Arthur James – Age 67, of Musquodoboit Harbour, passed away quietly January 27th, 2016, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Survived by wife, Barbara, Musquodoboit Harbour; mother-in-law, Evelyn Lovett, Dartmouth; son, Jeffrey, Alberta; daughter, Christina (Kevin) Wagner; and special grand-daughter Caitlyn. In early years Art worked at Imperial Oil on the tankers, then for BIO on the Research ships, and finished his career at Nova Scotia Power before retiring. He was a loving husband and father with a generous nature and will be fondly missed by relatives and his many close friends. Many thanks to medical staff in the CCU at QEII Health Sciences Centre, and attending paramedics.

Cremation has taken place and a small service with reception will be held in Petpeswick Yacht Club on Saturday, February 6th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour.
