It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Douglas on November 5, 2025 at the age of 65. Douglas was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth and had various occupations throughout his lifetime. He was a son of the late Ralph and Lorraine (Garrison) Doherty, Douglas was a huge lover of music and enjoyed and owned recordings of every Rock and Roll hit. His favorite word in his vocabulary was “Bodacious” which he applied to every situation… Douglas is survived by his sons, Douglas (Heather), Stephen (Melissa); grandchildren, Hailey, Braxton, Faith, Benjerman, Brayden and Tyler. He is also survived by siblings, Linda (John), Florence (Richard), Esther (Gil), Richard (Rhonda), Susan (Teddy), Trevor (Erin), Nancy; sister-in-law, Kimberley; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Webster. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him and we invite you to raise a glass of Keith’s Ale in his memory. Robert James Dooks
Dooks, Robert James – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert James Dooks, who left us peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on November 5th, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Halifax and raised in Jeddore, to the late Charles and Linda Dooks. Robert lived a life rooted in faith, family, and community; a life that touched more people than he ever knew.
In his early years, Robert was known for his dedication as a Minister, offering compassion, guidance, and support to those around him. Later in life, he embraced and shared his remarkable musical talent, especially his love for string instruments. Music was one of his greatest gifts, and he used it to bring joy to others, volunteering his time to play at senior homes throughout the Jeddore and Sheet Harbour communities. His music brightened countless days and created memories that will live on in the hearts of many.
A family-oriented man with a range of talents such as carpentry, and being your talented musician. Robert was someone who poured love into everything he did. Whether building something with his hands or sharing a song, he did so with kindness, patience, and a genuine desire to make life better for those around him. He was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and warmth. His absence will be felt deeply by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Robert is survived by his sons, Glenn Dooks (Darlene) and Ronnie Dooks; his daughter, Patricia Dooks (Rob); as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan Buchanan, of Newfoundland, who passed in 2024. He will also be greatly missed by Joan’s remaining friends and family, who held him close to their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Jeddore United Baptist Church on Friday, November 21st at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Aubrey Deslatte officiating. A reception to follow in the church hall. All who knew Robert are invited to gather, remember, and honour the remarkable man he was.

Paul "Bomber" Campbell
Campbell, Paul “Bomber” – passed away suddenly on October 29, 2025, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro after several months of poor health. Born in Truro, he was a son of Laura Mary (Finley) and Everett Malcolm Campbell. After his parents passed away when he was eight years old, Bomber went to live with his Aunt Grace, Uncle John, and brother, Bill.
Bomber is survived by his sons, Mac (Nadine), Paul Dartt (Joy), and Turtle; his grandchildren, MacKenzie, Samantha, Regan, Brooklyn, and Gavin; and his siblings, Nancy (Greg), Patsy (Herb), Betty, and Bill. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews. Bomber was predeceased by the love of his life, Joan (VanIderstine) and his brother, Bobby.
Bomber enjoyed golfing, curling, bowling, and hunting for as long as his health allowed. He also loved fishing. His sons, nephews and their friends have lots of stories about the Tangier fishing trips where he bravely took many teenagers into unknown weather and canoeing situations. Bomber loved reading and could often be found with a book. He was also a big sports fan and never missed a chance to cheer for his favourite teams—especially when watching Rachel Homan and his Toronto Blue Jays.
Paul truly lived up to the saying “a cat with nine lives,” as his friends, family and community are well aware. He will also be remembered for his love of his fur babies, Mookie, Wilson, and Buck.
We would like to acknowledge and thank special friend, Denise Snow, for all of her love and support to Paul over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 15th in Brookfield Curling Club from 1-4 pm, with speeches starting at 2 pm.

Lorna Laurene (Barkhouse) Beach
Beach, Lorna Laurene (Barkhouse) – Age 101, of Halifax, passed away in The Mira, Truro, on October 23, 2025.
Born in Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Lorne and Florence Barkhouse.
Lorna worked at Ashburn Golf Course for 24 years. She was a master knitter, cook, gardener and crafter and could fix anything.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Martelle, West Indian Road; Brenda Horne (Brian), Fall River; Karen Hodder (Bill), Halifax; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Beach in 1996; sisters, Velma, Judy; and brother, Stanley. She will be greatly missed by her remaining friends and family.
A private graveside committal service will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East.

Viola Marie (Murphy) Clarke
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vi Clarke (nee Murphy) on October 20, 2025 at the age of 81. Vi was born in Sydney, but lived most of her life in Waverley. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Garry Clarke; their son, David; her son, Terry (Gail) Meagher; daughter, Michele; stepdaughters, Christine (Rod), Connie and Jennifer (Ian). She was the cherished grandmother of Alexandre and Victoria Bouffard; and great-grandmother to Cassidy. Viola is survived by siblings, Iris (John), Francis (Carol), Charlie, Mickey (Janet), Terry (Georgina), and Earl (June). She was predeceased by brother, Leo; mother, Iris and father, Charles Murphy. Vi, “Mrs Meagher” led a prolific teaching career which spanned 30 years, positively affecting lives of countless young students and leaving a legacy to be proud of. She enjoyed hosting friends and family to celebrate special occasions always preparing memorable feasts and dressing with great style. Howard Gordon Deale
Deale, Howard Gordon – Age 78 of Elmsvale, passed away October 20, 2025.
Born in Elmsvale, he was a son of the late Augustus and Christine (Flemming) Deale.
Most of Howard’s working life was spent working in the woods. He also worked at drywalling for a period of time and at Department of Highways. He enjoyed working on the family farm, tending the animals, as well as fishing and hunting.
He will always be loved and missed by son, Daniel (Karla); daughter, Jennifer Deale; grandchildren, Tinisha, Arielle, Harley, Davin and Dawson; great-granddaughter, Emery; sister, Mary (Stephen) Willis; sister-in-law, Anne Deale; partner, Doreen Carrigan.
He was predeceased by brothers, Norman and Irving; sisters, Barbara and Norma.
Cremation has taken place.

Louise Bernadette Roach
Roach, Louise Bernadette – With great sadness we announce the passing of Louise Bernadette Roach. She passed away at the age of 75 on October 20, 2025.
Born in Tufts Cove, Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late Felix and Edna Perry.
Louise spent her early years working at Hermes in Woodside and later went to work in Ocean View Manor, caring for seniors. She also cared for many close friends and family. She loved being with people, cooking for them, playing cards and music. Louise loved travelling and entertaining.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne Zambolin, Ricardo Zambolin and Danielle Zambolin; grandchildren, Joseph, Brian, Cole, Amelia; nine great-grandchildren; brother, John Perry; sisters, Patsy Smith, Mabel Williams and Frankie Purdon; and several nieces and nephews. Louise was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Roach and brothers, James, William, Maurice, Felix and Glenn.
A Celebration of Life will be held in St Bridget Church, Shubenacadie on Thursday, October 30th at 2 p.m.

Katherine Anne (Constable) McNeil
McNeil, Katherine Anne (Constable) – Katherine was a daughter of Dianne Constable (Reg Lalonde) and Bradley McNeil (Paula). She tragically lost her life at the age of 31 in a car accident on October 17, 2025.
She is survived by her children, Bentley, Kinsley and Vivianne; brothers, Tyson (Tiffany), Adam (Lydia), Nick (Emily), Stephen (Brittany); sisters, Tyla, Amanda (Darren) and Sam. She will be sadly missed by her many loving cousins, aunts and uncles, especially her Aunt Pat. Katherine loved the times she spent with her treasured cousins, Kari, Dylan and Emma.
Katherine was fearless, passionate and brave with a spunky soul who lived life to the fullest. She cherished her memories of spending time at her childhood home in Lake Charlotte with her beloved family. She is so deeply missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
Cremation has taken place.
A service in her memory will take place Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 2 p.m. in Jeddore United Baptist Church, 8 West Jeddore Road, Head of Jeddore, with Pastor Aubrey Deslatte officiating. A reception will follow downstairs in the church including a light lunch. However, any donations of food may be delivered to the Ladies Auxiliary.

Margaret Anne McTiernan
McTiernan, Margaret Anne – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret McTiernan, at age 84, of Halifax, on October 15, 2025 in Truro.
Born Margaret Anne Hicks in Beechville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Burke) Hicks.
Margaret enjoyed competitive paddling in her early years and was involved with the Air Cadets. She later worked for the government in a variety of roles before marrying and starting a family. They would relocate to California for ten years before returning home to Halifax where they would remain and continue family life. Her family was the most important thing to her and she was known to those closest to her for her kindness, thoughtfulness and selfless devotion to others. She also had a great love for animals and enjoyed baking and crafts.
Surviving are her sons, Stephen (Gayle) of Kincardine, Ontario; Alan of Halifax; Greg (Nancy) of Nine Mile River; grandchildren, Timothy, Andrew, Kathleen, Laura, all of Ontario; brother, John (Betty); sister, Kathy (Hans) Moller; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Francis “Mick” McTiernan; siblings, Anita (Ronald), Edward (Dorothy) and Donna.
Cremation has taken place.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Pamela "Pam" Colleen (Fisher) Johnston
Johnston, Pamela “Pam” Colleen (Fisher) – Age 56.
September 1969-October 14 2025
It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Pamela “Pam” Colleen (Fisher) Johnston, of Truro, who grew up in Middle Stewiacke. After courageously battling breast cancer eight years ago, Pam faced its return this past December with the same strength, humour, and grace that defined her life. She fought with everything she had until the very end. Her final days were spent in the hospital surrounded by family, devouring an unknown number of candy apples, and—true to form—winning over the hearts of every nurse and doctor she met.
To know Pam was to love her. Her warmth, loyalty, and kindness touched everyone lucky enough to cross her path. She had a gift for turning friends into family—friends like Ang and Wayne, Cathy, Mike, Bry, Christa and Gary, Laura, Paul and Anne, Lynn, Lee and Cara, Gordon and Shirley, Donna and Rob, Brian, Mike, Steve, Robbie, Leslie, Dar, Kevin and Steph ,Sara, Julia, Sandy and Debbie, Jack and Paula ,Cathy and Leroy, Rayna, Maggie, Stephanie and Gary and the entire Inglis Jewellers family, and so many more who will forever hold Pam close in their hearts.
Pam’s greatest pride and purpose in life was her family. She was the most devoted mom, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her children. She embraced motherhood with unmatched love and care. She never hesitated to step up and love her stepdaughters, Courtney and Kelsey, as her very own from the start. And when it came to her youngest, Abbi, their bond was beyond words—Abbi was not only her daughter, but her best friend and soulmate in life. Pam didn't just do motherhood; she lived it, poured her heart into it, and made it her life’s most meaningful work.
Her husband, Greg, was the love of her life and her greatest supporter. Their marriage was built on laughter, partnership, and unwavering devotion. Together, they created a life full of love, inside jokes, and beautiful memories that will forever be cherished.
Pam found joy in the little things that make life beautiful. Christmas, especially, was her time to shine—she spent months selecting perfect gifts, decorating every corner, and making the season magical for everyone around her. She loved shopping, exploring the world, and surrounding herself with animals—two beloved cats, and many cherished dogs who filled the Johnston home over the years.
Pam was hilarious, quick-witted, and gifted with the ability to make people laugh, even in the hardest moments. Her sense of humor and warmth made her someone everyone loved to be around. She was genuine, caring, and had an incredible way of making people feel seen, special, and loved.
She is survived by her loving husband, Greg; daughters, Courtney, Kelsey (Liam), and Abbi; sister-in-law, Debbie (Alton); nephews, Johnny (Kate) and Allan (Shannon); grand-niece and nephew, Aubree and Noah; cousin, Bob; Aunt Jeanie; Aunt Nancy (Dave), Aunt Marlene (Jimmie) and countless friends, cousins and loved ones who will forever carry her light.
Pam was predeceased by her beloved parents, Margie (Nammy) and Victor (Bumpy) Fisher, who are surely welcoming her home with open arms.
Pam’s spirit will live on through the people who loved her most. She will be remembered for her kindness, humor, strength, and for being the kind of person who made the world better just by being in it.
A celebration of Pam’s life will be held January of 2026. In the meantime, Pam's wish would be to pay it forward with an act of kindness. She would say "see the good, forgive, and love with all your heart and may there always be enough candy apples for everyone!”

Shirley Ann Jenkinson
Jenkinson, Shirley Ann – Age 69 of West Chezzetcook. It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mum, grandmother and sister on October 11, 2025.
Born in Bromley, England, she was a daughter of the late John and Gwen (Hussey) Wallace.
She lived life to the fullest, enjoying time spent with her granddaughter, Loopy-Lou, at Camp Awesome with family and friends, and enjoyed fostering dogs. Shirley enjoyed being a part of the Eastern Shore Players, where she thrived at being on stage. She was a member of TOPS and this year reached her goal and became a KOPS member. While she enjoyed staying at home with each of her new dogs, it was always a good day when she found a deal at the thrift store. She was a very dedicated employee with The Oyster Group for over 20 years and loved her fellow oysters.
She will always be loved and missed by son, Terry and daughter, Jenni (Jeff); light of her life, granddaughter, Mickaela; brother, John (Rosie); sisters, Valerie (Ken), Donna (Kenny); many loving nieces and nephews; and special friend, Carol Gear.
She is now reunited with the love of her life and soulmate, Lauchlan Roma; sisters, Christine, Wendy; and sister by choice, Angela.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 24, 6-9 p.m. in Lions Club, East Chezzetcook. Funeral service will be on Saturday, October 25 at 2 p.m. in All Apostles by the Sea, Seaforth with a burial to follow in St. Barnabas Cemetery, Conrod Settlement.

Linda Lou Moore
Moore, Linda Lou – age 77 of Lake Egmont passed away October 10, 2025 surrounded by her family in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Carl Francis Higgins and Vera Oressa (Smith) Higgins. Linda proudly worked for several years at Dollar Lake Provincial Park, before retiring.
Surviving are children, Mary Lou, Shelley (George Csoma), Frank (Elaina), Ross (Rhonda Thompson); brothers, Timothy, Reginald, John; sisters, Donna, Carla, Gloria, Sheila, Darlene; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Edgar Moore; brothers, Richard, Darrell and in infancy, Allyson; sisters, Dixie and Debbie.
Cremation has taken place.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21 at 2 p.m., in St. Paul’s United Church, Antrim.

John Clarke Geddes
Geddes, John Clarke – Age 83 of Halfway Brook, passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2025 with family beside him.
Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Elvin and Mary (Fulton) Geddes.
Johnny was always a dedicated worker, he worked at carpentry in his younger days. When he was 20 years old, he and four of his friends followed the young man’s dream to head west. So, off they went in a 1957 Ford. At first, he worked on a farm in Alberta, but in 1960 was homesick and headed back to Nova Scotia. His love of trucking took over and his first job was with C.E Fisher. Curtis Fisher was his mentor and his first job with him was throwing around milk cans, and later driving truck, which he did for 8 years. Then one day, he bought his own truck and hauled pulpwood for Jack Brown to Scott Paper. One truck was not enough, he took over the cattle hauling business, as well as pigs, and David Brown Tractors. John was not afraid of work. He also had truckers who hauled Christmas trees. He started Stewiacke Valley Trucking Ltd. and by now had dump trucks, backhoes, pulp trucks, and employed many men. His dream came true when Kenny Creelman came to ask him to haul a load of timbers to Shag Harbour. He hauled lumber for Marwood for over 20 years. He then turned the company over to his sons and drove for them. When he was semi-retired, his sons bought him a sawmill for a hobby. It became John’s Sawmill. Thanks to all the customers over the years and the many people who stopped by the mill.
In the winter months, he started card games in the garage with his retired buddies. He was a member of Middle Stewiacke United Church and Middle Stewiacke Bowling League. Every Thursday, he attended card parties at Middle Stewiacke Rec. Centre. He loved going to political meetings with Linda, music, and dancing. His garage was a gathering place for all.
He will always be loved and missed by his wife of 61 years, Linda (Suttis) Geddes; sons, Walter, Fort MacMurray; David, Vanderhoof, B.C; Bobby (Anne), Vanderhoof, B.C; Mark, Halfway Brook; Quincy, Vanderhoof, B.C.; brother, Sinclair (Joyce), Otterbrook; grandchildren, Thomas, Clair, Margaret, Jackie, and Timmy; step-grandchildren, Steven, and Emily; sisters-in-law, Ava and Mary Geddes, Joan Suttis; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Roy and Ross.
Special thanks to Dr. Lorette and staff and VON for keeping John comfortable at home. Thanks to all who visited, called, and brought food. Many thanks to MacQuarries-Brookfield and The Home Care Centre for all they have done for us.

Shirley Ella Elizabeth Selena Jennings
Jennings, Shirley Ella Elizabeth Selena – Shirley Ella Elizabeth Selena Jennings passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025 at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished forever.
Shirley lived a life stitched together with kindness, generosity, and just the right dash of mischief. She loved cooking, knitting, quilting, baking, and never met a puzzle she couldn’t solve. Her door was always open, her kettle always on, and if you happened to wander into her home, whether it be a friend, family, or friendly stranger, you’d never leave hungry.
Sweet on the outside but known for the occasional cheeky comment that could make even the most serious of guests burst into laughter, Shirley truly had a wit like no other. She was the queen of shopping for sales, only to give most of it away because for her, joy was found in giving, not keeping.
Throughout her life, Shirley shared a special bond with her dogs, each one holding a cherished place in her heart. Her love for her dogs was another reflection of her kind and nurturing spirit - she cared deeply and loved unconditionally.
For nearly seventy years, she found peace watching hummingbirds and admiring the view from her living room window, a special place that witnessed a lifetime of family, laughter, and love.
Shirley was a woman of tenderness, generosity, and quiet strength. A gentle spirit with a wonderful sense of humour, she will be remembered for the love and warmth she brought to every life she touched.
She leaves behind her loving children, Janet (Warren), Chrisie (Mark), Tammy (John), Patricia (Paul), and Tim (Kim); grandchildren, Colin, Alicia, Mark, Justin, Selena, Brandon, Christopher, Paisley, Paige, Brandi, Johnny, Shawn, and Matthew; 24 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, David, Harold, Jim, Barbara, and Bonnie; and her dearest friend, Carol Blakeney.
She is reunited with her husband, Allan “Bud" Jennings; mother, Hazel Clarke; daughter, Sherry Faulkner; son, Wyman Jennings; son-in-law, Warren; grandson, Samuel; sister, Betty; and brothers, Howard and Sonny.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will take place October 20, 2025 at 1 p.m. in St. John Anglican Church Cemetery, 39 Monument Loop, Head of Jeddore, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life downstairs in Jeddore United Baptist Church.

Gary Alan Johnson
Johnson, Gary Alan – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Gary Alan Johnson, of Bible Hill, at age 69, on Sunday October 5th, 2025, in the Palliative Care Unit of Colchester East Hants Health Centre, after a brief battle with cancer.
From an early age, Gary had a love for music, often singing and playing guitar with his family and friends. He was also a long-time player in the Truro and District Mixed Slo-Pitch League, where he built lasting friendships and shared many good times. He shared his love of the beach and its many wonders with his children, often spending hours walking along the shore during low tide and exploring tide pools together.
Gary was a talented and dedicated carpenter throughout his life. He worked for many years with Kent Homes in Debert until the facility closed, and continued his career with the company by travelling across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to assemble modular homes. He was committed to his work, often spending weeks away from home to ensure families received their new homes on time. His skill and dedication also took him abroad, where he assembled modular schools in Bermuda.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Melissa Johnson, Salmon River; his son, Alan Johnson (Chantal), Hilden; their mother, Colleen Johnson; and his son, Bradley Boomer (Stephanie), Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Andrew, Brianna, Liam and Alan. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Johnson (Lynda), Onslow; and Wayne Johnson (Noella), Kenora, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. Gary also leaves behind his best friend and feline companion, Henry.
Gary was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Dorothy Johnson, of Bible Hill.
In keeping with Gary’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.

Nadeen "Penny" Caroline (Higgins) Comeau
Comeau, Nadeen “Penny” Caroline (Higgins) – Age 80, of Brookside, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025. It is with heavy hearts we that the family of Penny Comeau announce her peaceful passing.
Born in 1945, Penny grew up in Bible Hill. She was a daughter of the late Manson and Eileen Higgins. She had an older sister, Joan (Cameron), whom she loved dearly. Growing up she was involved with majorettes and various dance classes.
Penny graduated from high school in Onslow. During summers she waitressed at the Scotia Hotel, Truro. After she graduated, she worked at Scott Paper, Eastern Transport, Raco AMC Jeep and played a key role in the start up and success of Raco. One of her biggest accomplishments, and full-time job, was the management of Ray.
Penny met Ray when she was 15. They dated for years, and married at 21, on July 9th, 1966. They had two children and spent many years of their married life travelling and seeing the world. They spent their winters in Quail Springs campground in Uvalde, Texas. Penny had her special group of “birthday girls” that she would share special celebrations. She was a proud and loving wife, mother, nan and nana. She enjoyed spending precious time with her grandchildren.
She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Raymond; son, Mike (Mary Lou); daughter, Mary Jane (Dave); grandchildren, Ciera Robinson (Brad), Victoria Comeau, Kamryn Matheson and Mackenzie Matheson; great grandchildren, John Robinson and Charlotte Robinson
We want to thank the staff of VON, and her amazing caregivers, Jane Peters and her staff.
At her request, cremation has taken place. No service will be held.

Stephen Leslie Atwood
Atwood, Stephen Leslie – age 70, passed away on October 4, 2025.
Stephen was born in Halifax and raised in Dartmouth. He spent a lot of time at the family farm in Upper Musquodoboit and the Mill with his uncles, Hugh and Willard and his cousins.
After completing his trade, he opened an auto body shop where he worked until retirement. He loved hunting and fishing and taking people out on the boat. Family, friends and his dog, Jib were very special to him. He was a jack of all trades and willing to help however he could. He loved chatting with everyone and he loved a good joke. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his partner in life, Paulette Cullins; children, Melanie Cullins (Rob), Sarah Cullins (Jeff) and Ben Cullins (Melanie); brother, Ronald (Nancy) Atwood; sister, Kristine Atwood; grandchildren, Hayley, Dana, Liam, Hannah and Leon; and nieces, Sonya and Jasmine.
He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Phyllis (Erskine) Atwood.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 12 at 2 p.m. in Upper Musquodoboit Fellowship Hall. A family graveside service will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Gordon "Ralph" Parker
Parker, Gordon “Ralph” – The passing of a loved one is never easy to bear. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon “Ralph” Parker. He passed away peacefully at 88 years old on June 18th, 2025 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
Ralph is survived by his daughters, Julie Parker and Laura Piccinin; his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He will be joined in peace with his parents, Thomas and Susan (Dean) Parker; brothers, Jack, Henry, George, Robert and Ellis; sisters, Mary, Grace, Margaret, Maude, Gwen and Joyce; his wife of 60 years, Glorianna (Partridge); and daughter, Lisa.
Ralph was born in Upper Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many and will be deeply missed. He is fondly remembered for his funny stories, dry humour, unwavering strength and love of sports, especially baseball and hockey. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will forever be held close to the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
Family and friends will be received in The Simple Alternative Funeral Home at 1535 South Gateway Road in Mississauga, Ontario, on Friday, October 17, 2025, with visitation at 10:30 am, service at 11:30 am followed by a reception from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Roy "Papa Smurf" William Coulter
Coulter, Roy William “Papa Smurf” – Age 74 of Harmony, passed away October 1, 2025 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Bill Coulter and Dorothy (Spence) (Coulter) McLellan and stepson of the late Donald McLellan.
Roy had been employed as a sandblaster at Nova Enterprises for many years. He enjoyed four-wheeling, playing ball, hunting and fishing.
Surviving are sons, Robert Coulter, Cedric Portelance (Shannon Benham); sister, Debbie Murray; half-brother, Anthony Giffon; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by sister, Linda Devouge; brother, David Coulter; and grandson, Scott Gionette.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Sheena Marie (Andrews) Smith
Smith, Sheena Marie (Andrews) – With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Sheena Marie (Andrews) Smith, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, on September 25, 2025, at the age of 63. Sheena passed away in hospital, surrounded by her loving family, after many years of courageously battling illness.
Born in Middle Musquodoboit, Sheena lived a life defined by deep love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She is survived by her devoted children, Jason (Monina), Dartmouth; and Kylia (John), Ontario; her adored grandson, Mathias, who brought her immeasurable joy; and her beloved extended children, James Hubley and Melissa Mailman, both of Fall River, NS, who held a special place in her heart. Sheena was a loving and selfless mother, always placing her family first, and a proud grandmother whose bond with Mathias will be remembered and cherished always.
Sheena was a woman of strong values and unshakeable morals, which she gently but firmly passed on to those around her. Her guidance, love, and wisdom shaped many lives, and her presence was a grounding force for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Verda Irene (Ross) Mercer and Thomas Fredrick Andrews; and her beloved brother, Vance Andrews.
She leaves behind her sister, Delene, Dean; brothers, Darcy, Dean; and Trevor, Dartmouth; and her much-loved sisters-in-law, Lesley and Stephanie. Sheena was also a proud and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, Amy (Alex), Dartmouth; Kavin (Keith), Bedford; Caleb (Meghan), Dartmouth; Keira, Dean; Lucas and Jacob, Dartmouth. Affectionately known as Auntie SheShe, she will be forever remembered for her warmth, support, and attentive ear.
Sheena was a longtime and proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, where she found community, purpose, and camaraderie.
A woman of many passions, Sheena’s love of music, singing, and playing guitar brought joy not only to herself but to those lucky enough to hear her. She especially loved kitchen parties, line dancing, and traveling during her healthier years—finding happiness in new places, lively gatherings, and the simple joy of a good song shared with others.
She had a special gift for nurturing and creating beauty in the everyday. Whether through her love and passion in babysitting and caring for children, her talent for crocheting christening gowns, doilies, and dishcloths, or the care she poured into baking homemade cakes, Sheena’s creativity and dedication touched everyone around her. Music, family traditions, and quiet acts of kindness were the hallmarks of her beautiful life.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dartmouth General Hospital palliative care unit support staff, nurses and clinicians whose compassionate care made Sheena’s final days meaningful and comfortable, free from pain. We are also deeply grateful for the patience and kindness shown during our family farewell room gatherings, which allowed us to celebrate her life with love and laughter.
A private celebration of Sheena’s life will be held at a later date, where family will be together to honor her memory and share stories of a life so fully and lovingly lived.
Sheena will be deeply missed, and leaves a lasting legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
