Elizabeth Carolyn “Betty” Isenor, 79, of Dutch Settlement, passed away on September 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born and raised in Dutch Settlement, Betty was a daughter of the late Albert and Della Hare. She remained a lifelong resident of the community she called home.
Betty’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her sons, Curtis (Sharon) Isenor and Troy (Tammie) Isenor; and her daughter, Tammy Isenor.
Betty shared her home with her daughter Tammy, who lovingly cared for her and was by her side throughout her recovery and in the time leading up to her passing. Her family will always be grateful for the love, comfort, and care Tammy gave their mother, allowing her to be at home surrounded by the familiar things and people she loved.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her grandchildren, Shaymas, Bradley (Jaclyn), Kelsey, Brezlyn, and Annie (Corbin), and by her great-grandchildren, James, Piper, Klaire, Percival, and Brent. Betty had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and simply talking about them would light up her face.
Betty was predeceased by her loving husband, Harry Isenor; and was the last surviving member of her family of twelve siblings.
Betty found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed doing puzzles and crosswords, reading, quilting, golfing, playing cards, watching her favourite television “soaps,” and, of course, hockey. She was also a wonderful cook and was especially well known within her family for making the best coconut cream pies.
Having her family around meant everything to Betty. Whether it was a barbecue, a family gathering, or simply an excuse to bring everyone together, those were the moments she treasured most. Her family was the center of her world, and she meant everything to us.
Betty will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt, Nannie, Great-Nannie and mother-in-law. Her love for her family was at the center of her life, and the memories created together will be carried forward by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro and QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax for the kindness, compassion, and care shown to Betty and her family during the last weeks of her life. Your care and support during such a difficult time will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
She will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed.
A graveside service celebrating Betty’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. George’s Church in Dutch Settlement. Please note that there will be no reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
