McCallum, Bonnie Shirley Colleen - Age 77. It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished momma, loving nanny and the best GG. She peacefully went home to our Lord in the morning hours of June 14, 2025.
Mom grew up in Onslow Mountain with her eight siblings and went on to raise us children there.
She loved the outdoors and took us kids to many swimming holes growing up, and in later years, took her grandkids mud sliding and many memorable trips to the lake. If she wasn’t in the water, she had a hook in it! Her grandson always says “Nanny taught me how to fish”.
There are many memories of trips in Economy camping and clam digging with her sister Pinkie and all of us kids, trips to her sister Gerry’s and having a dozen of us sleeping in the old army tent, the long walks to the river on the hot days were the best swims and happiest times. Mom looked forward to all the seasons of blueberry and mushroom picking, gathering may flowers, and collecting fiddleheads.
Mom was a member of the Abundant Life Victory Church. She was a hard working, strong, kind and loving woman who would help anyone. We all know she made the best chilli and homemade bread. She enjoyed many hours doing jigsaw puzzles, playing crib and dice over the years with her loved ones.
The lights of her life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and we all adored her.
Mom is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Crystal McCallum, Truro; Robert McCallum, Bible Hill; and Anthony (Mai) McCallum, Truro. She was a cherished grandmother to Josh, Cassie, Robert, Brett, Breea, Johnathan and David; great-grandchildren, Ariella, Jayce, Lennox and Jett; sisters, Geraldine Clarke, Iris “Pinkie” Hutchinson, Violet Stone and Diane McDonald.
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Pansy and Charlie McCallum; sisters Vangie Langille, Fern “Bowie” Conrad; brothers Fulton “Butch” McCallum and Ivan McCallum.
A special thanks to Sherry Morrison, you were a special source of light in so many ways. To Rosaleen Hutchinson for your support and comfort. A big thank you to Debert Court staff as well.
Always loved and deeply missed, now in the arms of our Saviour Jesus Christ; until we meet again.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
