Bates, Judith Anne – of Elmsdale. It is with heavy hearts that we sadly announce the passing of our mom, grandmother and great-grandmother on June 18, 2025 just short of her 81st birthday.
Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late George and Enna (Wellwood) Ross.
Judy was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and was an accomplished knitter.
She enjoyed family times and shopping trips with her best friend, Eleanor.
She will always be loved and missed by daughter, Shelley; sons, George (Jenn), Stephen (Sherry); grandchildren, Whitney, Andrew, Ethan; and special grandchild, Samantha. She was double G to Reese and Poppy. Also surviving are her brother, Albert (Theresa); brothers-in-law, Lyle (Carole), Harry (Adele), Kirk (David), Roderick; sister-in-law, Marlene Bates; lifelong friend, Eleanor Leadbeater; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; brothers-in-law, Richard and Floyd Bates.
Cremation has taken place.
A graveside service will be held in Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan on June 27 at 1 p.m.
Memorial donations to a local SPCA would be appreciated.
