Iver Edmond Conrad

Conrad, Iver Edmond – age 87, of Shubenacadie East, passed away August 31, 2026 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Elderbank, he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth (Whalley) Conrad.

In his younger years, Iver worked in Milford at the feed mill and garage. He drove truck, did carpentry and was an all-around handyman. He was always at the ready to give a lift or lend a hand. Visiting was not high on his list of priorities but he loved company. He loved observing deer and birds, especially the eagles teaching their young to fly and fish in the river. Iver loved watching wrestling, a strong cup of tea with a piece of pie or cake and a fresh small firm tomato. He loved flowers, except dandelions, and loved mowing the grass, often when it didn’t even need it. Mostly he enjoyed smoking his pipe.

Iver loved his family, and will always be missed by daughter, Ellie Ollie (Mike Hamilton); son, Walter (Teri Canning) Conrad. He was proud of his grandchildren, Jacob Ollie (Brooke Anderson), Jessica (Ainslie) Brown, Jenna Conrad (Zack Logan). His hope for his great-grandchildren, Abbigail and Jackson Ollie, Maisley and Kinsley Anderson, Hattie and Hemming Brown, was for them to be happy, healthy and flourish.

The youngest of 15 children, he was predeceased by siblings, Mary, Bertha, Irvine, Edna, George, Gordon, Lloyd, Margaret, Pearl, Jean, Gerald, Cecil, Muriel and Brenton.

While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that he has finally been reunited with the love of his life, his late wife, Linda Minnie (Turner) who passed away in 2020.

Cremation has taken place.

For those wishing, memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

Thank you to all the neighbors, VON, doctors and nurses in Truro hospital for all their care and support.
